This time we teamed up with two great upcoming talents from the new era of Digital / Rub a Dub reggae; we are talking about the young producer from Devon (UK), Interrupt and the new Spanish phenomenon Ponchita Peligros.

This EP is composed of six tracks, two vocal cuts with the sweet melodic voice of Ponchita accompanied by Interrupt’s riddims plus two remixes of Cutty Ranbs and Michael Prophet feat Ricky Tuffy by Interrupt.

Interrupt has been producing Reggae since 2012. Inspired by the digital Reggae style of the late 1980s where his obsessions inspired him to start creating his own riddims using a CZ-101 keyboard, making his own remixes of popular reggae tunes. In 2013 he released his first EP with Spanish singer George Palmer in a Rubadub Style, which proved to be a big success, promoting both artists and paving the way for many more collaborations and musical endeavours. Upbeat vibes, old-school drum machines, bold bass lines and colourful synthesisers are what define Interrupt’s unique production style.

Ponchita Peligros is a Spanish rub a dub DJ/MC that has turned out as one of the biggest artists of her country. Her style is characterised by her sweet voice and her fun and creative DJ style that brings us back to the 1980s. After releasing her first solo album playing sax and singing in 2008, Ponchita has focused on singing Rub-a-dub in Soundsystem dances and has been collaborating with sounds and producers from all over the world. In June 2014 Scotch Bonnet Records released her first 7" vinyl and after a complete sell-out Ponchita and Stalawa came back again last December with a second 7" release made for the Rub a Dub lovers all over the world ina "Different Style.

This is also the first vinyl release for KnD where he has been involved with the Portuguese reggae scene for years and now has his deserved vinyl debut. 

This release is really unique, where the riddim does´t fit in one genre 100%. Fat subass, Wobble Synths and 8 Bit sounds make this release so original and very niche towards the listeners.

Brother Culture is one of the UK’s greatest lyricists and artists, who after starting his career around 1982 has been travelling the world spreading the positive message of Rastafari. He’s joined forces & worked with many other world renowned artists too over the years such as The Prodigy, Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Adrian Sherwood & Manasseh. Born and raised in the ghetto of Vila Guilherme located in Brazil’s São Paulo, Carlos Almeida Jr. aka Junior Dread represents the new generation of conscious reggae music worldwide. His sound brings a positive message of love and understanding to the world.

He has released singles with respected international artists such as Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Dubateers and Gorgon Sound to just name a few. In 2015 he teamed up with Moonshine Recordings to release remixed versions of his biggest tracks ‘Wonderful Feeling’ and ‘Freedom’. Supported by influential artists like Om Unit, Kahn, Radikal Guru, Doc Scott and many others. 

Gorgon Sound’s take on ‘Wonderful Feeling’ sends positive vibrations through 2015’s dub culture. They have kept Junior Dread’s founding voice to rule the top-end vigorously, while catchy instruments levitate original intentions. The duo hit unity with blessing chords, chest-rumbling waves of bass weight and a righteous steppa rhythm that fits the Moonshine outfit perfectly.

The flipside coming from DJ Madd is a darker affaire that hints back to the early Jungle days. His ‘Freedom’ remix exerts deeply resonating 808 basslines that propagate below a defined threshold. Junior Dread’s dub basics are kept close to the heart of the Hungarian producer, which leads to a rework that makes the perfect B-side to this heavy 12” plate from the Moonshine Recordings camp.

With ‘MS020’ quickly following up on Numa Crew’s ‘Dub Searcher’ EP recently released, Moonshine Recordings makes the best out of their release-schedule of 2015. Having Gorgon Sound and DJ Madd feature on the next twelve-inch / digital release, the label is ready to shutdown festivals and dance floors across the globe.

Our 29th release is the ZamZam Sounds debut of a fast-rising talent, the one Danny Scrilla, born Danny Pirkl.  Now residing in Munich after time in Berlin and London, Scrilla has carved a path through multiple labels including Civil Music, Rudimentary Records and several releases on Om Unit’s mighty Cosmic Bridge imprint.  It is these latter tunes that have brought him to prominence, and it was Om Unit himself that made the connection between Scrilla and ZamZam, a brilliant bit of A&R that we are very grateful for.  His sound avoids easy categorization - it is deeply rooted in traditional dubwise, while seeming to pull in rhythmic, textural and melodic inspiration from a futuristic revisioning of jungle, footwork and house.

"Higher Plane” opens with a gorgeous flute melody, pattering percussion, a test tone and a maternal bassline all floating in etheric bliss, woven through with gently decaying delays.  Almost imperceptibly other elements are pulled into the pulse’s gravity-well until the full riddim finally emerges, a restrained yet addictive 150 bpm rockers for sound systems on course to meet the rising sun. 

“Maroon" is a highly original silky steppers powered by rubbery sub and cyborg saxophone riffs with Scrilla’s signature woozy, detuned delay trails and synaesthetic holograms.  Alternating between half time and 4/4 propulsion, this subtle powerhouse of a tune has been championed on dubplate from DJs as varied as Rodigan and Toddla T.

We proudly present to you our new vinyl release, Subactive strikes with their first 12” on our imprint. After the first 7” release with the legendary Mikey Murka, Subactive now teams up with El Fata and Danny Dread on the vocals and a mad Dub Version from Naram and Art out of Jahtari and Colonel Mustard.

Side A features El Fata on a relick of the Run Run Riddim, a modern digital style with fat basslines and melodic progression chords that will shake up the dancefloor. The dub version comes in a very different style and influenced by the German down-tempo dub culture.

On the B side we can find the veteran Danny Dread with his conscious lyrics and a dub version by Naram which is heavily influenced by Asian and Arabic sounds. This is a limited edition of 500 copies with our first full print sleeve. Both riddims will be found as a free download with all the orders through our online shops.

After the success of the 12” Vinyl / Digital debut EP of Dub Unit featuring Speng Bond, now comes the first 7” Vinyl with this massive riddim from Subactive with the legendary Mikey Murka singing on top of “The Bad Man Riddim”.


Founded in 2010, Subactive is a Strasbourg (France) based sound-system. Amateurs of sharp skanks and  fat bass lines, they produce modern-sounding riddims influenced by digital reggae of the 80s.


The remix from Dreadsquad & Doubla J.on the Polish label “Superfly studio” is the first official release in 2012. In 2013, Subactive is signed on the famous music label Scotch Bonnet and releases its first EP (Frontline EP) in collaboration with singers El Fata & Ranking Levy. Mikey Murka first came to the attention of reggae fans worldwide way back in the the early 80′s. Having grown up in Jamaica, Mikey moved to London as a teenager & began singing on the legendary Unity Sound. In the height of Reggae’s ‘digital era’ in the 80′s Mikey worked the dancehalls with fellow Unity Sound artists such as Kenny Knotts, Errol Bellot, Selah Collins, Richie Davis, Peter Bouncer, Demon Rocker & Flinty Rankin (the Ragga Twins) performing regularly alongside the likes of Coxsone, Saxon & other top sounds of the day. On stage Mikey has supported artists including Sugar Minott, Mikey General, Tippa Irie, Daddy Freddy & many more. Following Unity Sound’s sucess in the soundsystem circuit, they began releasing records. With them Mikey recorded a series of hit tunes, including anthems such as ‘Control the Dancehall’, ‘We Try’ & perhaps the most well known ‘Ride Pon the Riddim’ which reached top 3 in the reggae charts, earning Mikey international recognition. Countless Mikey Murka tracks appeared on various compilation albums, the most famous of which include Unity Sound’s ‘Watch How The People Dancing’ LP & John Dread’s ‘Jamaica Affair’ Vol 3, where Mikey appears alongside Big Youth & King Kong. After a long break from the game, Mikey returned in 2002 hotter than ever, this time teaming up Kemist Kris of Reality Shock, who persuaded him to relaunch his singing career.

After the success of the 12” Vinyl / Digital debut EP of Dub Unit featuring Speng Bond, now comes the first 7” Vinyl with this massive riddim from Subactive with the legendary Mikey Murka singing on top of “The Bad Man Riddim”.

Founded in 2010, Subactive is a Strasbourg (France) based sound-system. Amateurs of sharp skanks and fat bass lines, they produce modern-sounding riddims influenced by digital reggae of the 80s.

The remix from Dreadsquad & Doubla J.on the Polish label “Superfly studio” is the first official release in 2012. In 2013, Subactive is signed on the famous music label Scotch Bonnet and releases its first EP (Frontline EP) in collaboration with singers El Fata & Ranking Levy.
