Max (Italy) is making his debut on Younan Music's unstoppably hot new B-Sides series, and we couldn't be happier that he did. Max's Girl/Mind ep is an explosive main room tech house release!

'Girl' shows Max's ability to masterfully make use of 90's 'MTV's The Grind' style breaks, while adding infections vocals and a rumbling bass line to ensure a groove that keeps rolling and building into a full-fledged banger.

'Mind' is a homage of sorts to 90s NYC deep house with piano chords, analogue bass stabs, a vocal to kill for, and some proper jack groves. This track works a packed dance floor as well as it does your local sleazy basement affair.

Matt McLarrie delivers a stellar remix of 'Mind', by flipping the original into a big room house floor killer paired nicely with an acid twist sure to send raves into overdrive.

On CUE005 we turn to Cueca Recordings label head Jonathan David for an original production release. Over the years Jonathan David has released on some of the most respected underground house music labels around. His unique and precise style infuses organic tribal beats, atmospheric effects, and exciting transitions. In the last few years, he has received big support from DJ heavyweights Todd Terry, Chus & Ceballos, and many others. Jonathan is known to produce regularly with label partner Matt McLarrie, but on this release, he comes to us solo and delivers the original 'Black Pepper' EP.

'Black Pepper' is a sexy, classy and intelligent house music record. Combining rhythmic tribal grooves and delicious deep house chords, the track progresses into a stunning clarinet and sax workout that brings it all to life. A warm rolling bass-line keeps the track grooving while the playful vocals are seasoned perfectly throughout. Expertly placed fills and Jonathan's trademark atmospheric effects gel the whole experience together. This one is House in its purest form.

On the remix, we are more than proud to welcome tech-house legend Aldo Cadiz from Santiago Chile. With Cueca's Chilean roots this was sure to be a perfect fit for us at the label. Aldo is a producer who has seen huge success on world class labels Desolat, Snatch, Kling Klong, Viva Music, Moan, & Maya Records. He is the owner of the former Disco Royal record label in Chile and one of the most respected DJs in South America. Known for his expertly constructed Latin percussive beats, Aldo flips this original on its head by stripping the whole track back while working around the vocals to construct a chugging and bouncy rhythm. Abstract vocal effects and rave like synth fills give you a quick breather before the track returns to the addictive slamming groove. Glitches accent the whole track and lift the production to give it an edgy dance-floor vibe.

UE006 has finally arrived and we are starting 2020 with a statement of true quality. Cueca’s very own duo Matt McLarrie and Jonathan David combine once again and head to the streets of Mexico and deliver to you their new single ‘La Clica’. 

Inspired by Mexican gang culture, Chicano gangster vocals tell the story to a backdrop of intense Latin percussion and driving snappy hats. Haunting festival trumpets cut through the groove while the jail atmosphere gives it that gritty underground feel. This is a track that really intensifies as it progresses with the interplay of the trumpets and vocals setting the theme. Booming sub-bass lays the foundation and keeps the track rooted to the dance floor while the other elements evolve and take you on a true musical exploration of the Latin barrios. 

On the remix, we are extremely proud to have Canadian legend, and purveyor of the finest underground house music of the moment, Demuir. The hardcore gangster feels of the original plays right into his hands as he delivers an absolute floor crushing remix. Pulling out the tribal elements of the original he has sculpted a slamming groove around it in his signature jackin tech style. The upfront style drums drive the track forward while his vocal placement and stripped back breakdowns add huge intensity to the drops. The builds are subtle but extremely powerful and a true testament to the less is more attitude. Unexpected deep chords soften the tone which is a touch only an artist of Demuir’s level could deliver. His experience and talents really shine through on this. Flawless remix from a true professional. Tested on global dance floors by the man himself, this release will find its way into sets of some of the biggest artists this year. This is a release that truly sums up the Cueca Recordings ethnic vision. Thank you to Demuir and all real gangsters everywhere.

Our belief at Cueca Recordings is that music should have a theme, a concept, a soul. Cueca Recordings was born from the overseas partnership between Jonathan David from Canada & Matt McLarrie from Scotland. They connected through a shared love for tribal ethnic house music and organic grooves. Unlike many other online collaborations this duo comes together and create in real time online where both their styles, passion and emotion mesh together to produce tracks that are special and unique to them. This resulted in releasing music on hugely respected labels such as Elrow, Younan Music, Material Series, King Street Sounds, Madtech, KMS Records, Witty Tunes, Xima, Monique Special, My Little Dog & Mile End. Their sound together is a connection of deep tribal rhythms, pulsating atmospheric FX and an overall world sound. This close connection at a musical level has grown into a strong brotherly bond and ultimately led to the creation of Cueca Recordings. Their experience working together as Label Manager and A&R of Younan Music means your releases will be in safe experienced hands from the start. Jonathan’s roots in Chile, their love for ethnic cultures and a thirst for making people dance resulted in the name Cueca Recordings.

We will accept any style of House music as long as it has a strong musical theme or a groove that makes us dance! NO EDM!
