There’s an exciting new gun marching in to the town of house music; his name is Viktor Talking Machine.

Dropping his debut release on Super Flu’s burgeoning Monaberry label, the shadowy but talented young force - whose name is also seemingly based upon the ill fated Victor Talking Machine company that produced the very first gramophone record players - fuses his feudal, rural experiences of Antarctic life with an arsenal of sound and texture on his refreshing ‘Abby’ EP.

Taking a strict mantra of ‘digital is death’, Viktor brings his expressive and deep sound through a selection of analogue instruments, galvanising his off kilter, alternative dance floor tomes with soundscapes and refreshing, naturalised washes of ambience and effect. Title track Abby – with its hollowed echoes and radar blips, sets the tone in minimal, ethereal fashion before gentle, crisp percussion brings tempo and rhythm, before snapping hi hats and bubbling, pulsating bass drive the track into the heart of any given dance floor.

Sven Tasnadi brings a hyper compressed analogue remix, stripping back the percussive elements and bringing the bass timbres to the fore, while Martin Waslewski comes up trumps on his equally ethereal take on Abby, but hardened by resonating drums, staunch kicks and a more perky, house purist approach on the original. Finally, Viktor awakens his machine once more Torrfel playing with fluctuating gusts of harmonics before acidic, hypnotic top line melodies bang heads with bubbling bass and stomping swing.

Coming from the heart of Bosnia, Solomun is a passionate DJ who certainly knows how to please a crowd and keep the energy on the floor. Equally as talented and creative in the studio, he has many releases to his name on his own label Diynamic, as well as other imprints such as Four:Twenty, liebe*detail and Dessous recordings. Made for the dancefloor, his productions always have an element of funk or surprise, reminding people of the fun that's there to be had with music. As a label with many close ties to mobilee records, Diynamic will be co-hosting a party at mobilee's Sonar 2010 celebrations, which makes it even more fitting that this release brings the two forces more closely together.

Solomun's next big bang, being brought to you via Leena music, is a sure extension of his impeccable production skills and style, and is also one of the most unique releases you will here on the label so far. A-side 'Sisi' opens with a head-spinning explosion of notes and chords, being fired out like sparks in a continual loop. Then half way through the record, they dramatically stop, only to soon build up again and set the roller coaster off once more. B-side 'Talk To The Hand' is a bass-heavy and punchy track, that surprises you with euphoric piano chords in the second half, whilst B2 'Curesto' brings all of the elements together with piano chords, build-ups and some drama. It’s the pre-squeeze leading up to the big release. Mobilee presents this double-track treat on both vinyl and digital. 

The A-side tears it up with „Hartwood“, Rodriguez Jr.’s biggest hit to date. With a series of alternating and repetitive keyboard strokes and soulful lyrics bouncing on a thick velvet cushion of rich background base, this number is guaranteed to appeal to the industry’s most respected players. Already landing on the hard drives of Pete Tong, Laurent Garnier and Simian Mobile Disco “Hartwood” has gained a bit of airtime as loyal listeners burn for the final release date.

The B-side features Anja Schneider with a full out female power vocal number ironically titled, “Henry & Lars”. This track takes form from a very cuddly story that took place at BPM Festival in Mexico as Anja’s little guy and a stuffed animal named “Lars” found love and friendship in a little girl and her stuffed-animal she called “Henry”. And so the story went on…
