Re-recording of my live hybrid DJ Set for UFO Parfum Presents Liminal Spaceship

I collected some of my favorite hauntingly beautiful, psychedelic,  dark and melancholic songs - mostly abstaining from dance music.  
This is a blue mix comforting those feeling strains of loneliness,  depression and introspection - I've always been drawn to moody music. 
While personally, I'm generally more happy with my life than I've ever been, I personally recorded this mix to act as a sonic reflection of cold moody winter weather or in my case longing for it in Los Angeles. 

Recorded live at The Friend Bar using 2 CDJs with additional live improvisation on an APC40 + custom Ableton template randomly generating psychedelic clouds, drones and vocal textures that allow me to move between songs in different minor keys.

☯ A little more information about this upcoming DIY camping festival ☯
Gradient was conceived by two LA event/party spaces, New Palm @newpalm and Print Shop, and occurs annually during springtime in Johnson Valley (two hours from LA). I can’t say enough good things about this DIY festival—everyone looks after each other, sharing food, drinks, and camping supplies.

The land, owned by Bear Glass, almost seemed to be landscaped with a small, music festival in mind. It features dedicated areas for parking, a camping area, and a speaker stage, not to mention the wildflowers were blooming all around us. Bear also runs a loudspeaker design and manufacturing company, Mobius Acoustics. This year's sound system included four Synergy Horns added to the PA, built by John Clements (the sound technician for Gradient and Bear’s next-door neighbor) and Anthony Bisset (a founding member of Mobius Acoustics).

My personal opinion: it’s my favorite little DIY camping festival in Southern California.

Regarding the recording, I utilized an Ableton Live session as a third channel to generate psychedelic, harmonic, and haunting textures alongside two channels of CDJs. I use this kind of like a sonic glue to transition between songs in different keys. The goal of this set was to take you on a sonic journey for the heart and mind, balancing light with moments of darkness, and from early to new electronic music. Enjoy :)
