Finally, almost three years after the well-received Orange Wine EP, and three international tours, Okvsho is back with their fourth project “A place between us”. Georg and Christoph Kiss, the two brothers behind Okvsho, are showcasing a project that is more intimate and bolder than ever, offering an insight into their thoughts, feelings, and experiences during the last two years. The unique style Okvsho has become known for in recent years has once again evolved, combining organic and electronic elements with beautiful harmonies and expressive rhythms. 
Okvsho's second LP will also be the first full-length project to be released on the newly founded Zurich-based label Current Moves, with which the Okvsho-brothers aim to shape the young European jazz scene they are inspired by and also an established part of.

Introducing 'Soulé,' the first single from the highly anticipated upcoming album 'A place between us.' by Okvsho (@Soulofzurich). Emerging from a jam session gathering the blossoming young jazz scene of Capetown during Okvsho’s South Africa Tour, the composition invites listeners to surrender to its evolving cadence, meandering through a tapestry of groovy percussions, silky chord progressions and a symphony of delicate guitar licks and grounding string arrangements.

Okvsho:
“As we couldn’t take our band to South Africa and Eswatini, we found different musicians for every gig we played through Instagram and with the help of the people we met during our journey. We played different versions of Soulé at every gig, but only after our last show in Cape Town, we knew where this song was going. Back in Zurich we started to record with some of our long-time collaborators and friends and Soulé emerged, a beautiful collaboration between Cape Town and Zurich.”

“At the start of the song you can hear the legendary saxophonist Mthunzi Mvubu asking “in riddim?” after we asked him to use the saxophone as a percussion instrument during a recording session in Johannesburg.”

The rising mega talent, multi-instrumentalist, striking bandleader and *actually* ambidextrous musician and producer returns to deliver Ley Lines – a true showcase of her talents. From the horns, to the choir, to the drums, to the rest, everything was written, produced, laid down and mixed by Emma-Jean.

“I wanted to step away from my work as a band leader and do something self-contained. I love improvising in the moment with a band, but wanted to take the chance to create at my own pace and be true to my own vision,” she says.

As a producer and musician, Emma-Jean’s work defies genre boundaries yet still holds deep roots in jazz. As well as being tipped “one of the UK’s most exciting new jazz artists” by Red Bull Music Academy, the one-woman-band production style of Ley Lines has been compared to Stones-Throw heavyweight Madlib.

Just as at home working with the London Symphony Orchestra as she is tearing it down at Total Refreshment Centre, Ley Lines follows Emma-Jean’s acclaimed Walrus EP and maintains her trajectory as one of the most talented young musicians in the business.
