Forgotten

If I had to choose two or three of my compositions out of all of them, this would be one of them.

Like every composition, this one has a story...or rather two.

The first tells how it was done.

The advantage of making music with an iPad is that you can take your "studio and instruments" anywhere. Thanks to that, I started composing it in France, a country that, as many know, I visit frequently for family reasons.

The main instrument that defines the melody is a bell-type synthesizer and was taken from the defunct Alchemy.

It was 2015 and I was still not able to equalize properly (And I think today, although I have improved, neither).

So in 2019 I decided to improve it, but I discovered that I had accidentally deleted the master.

I didn't know very well what to do and finally decided to recompose it from the beginning, but looking for the most similar sounds on another synthesizer (kv331).

The second story has to do with what I want to convey.

Where I live there is a nursing home. I see the families who come to see the people there.

I remember my grandfather, with whom he spent entire days and showed me all the books he read... I remember it as if it were yesterday (My other grandfather died when I was very young). What I learned most from him was respect and discovering the wonderful stories behind them from which you can learn authentic life lessons.

This composition is for these people who suffer and do not have the love and respect they deserve.

Today I also dedicate it to all these wonderful musicians of a certain age who are in this community and to anyone who suffers for any reason and believes that no one remembers them.

A requiem for my sister Lisa, and 4th movement of a work I have planned to complete as I have time and inspiration for each part of my outline.

The title comes from my daughter, who heard me as I was playing with the initial melodic idea, and said it sounds like a mourning bird.

This piece is best heard through headphones or quality stereo speakers to hear all the details.

NOXPOX - Missing Soprano Sax Solos

Hey…. Snowing now, I went out to do a little snow shoveling and to check on an injured whitetail deer that was hiding along the fence line of my neighbor’s property yesterday. Looks like the deer waited until the cover of night to leave, and probably headed into the riparian brush along the creek down the road. I saw the deer yesterday, as I was outside. It had an injured front hoof, and was definitely limping. The deer was well camouflaged along the wooden fence and bedded down under some bushes. I laughed because the neighbor’s dog was none the wiser, as to the presence of the deer. I was hoping that deer would make it, and survive, as hiking in the spring, I have often found deer carcasses, picked clean by eagles, coyotes, magpies and others, as the winter took its toll on them. There have been plenty deer in the yard here all winter long. I usually shake the dried apples off the trees once a week, and they fall into the snow. Then it looks like an army came through, hoof prints everywhere and nary an apple to be found. Anyway, this song is about my childhood. A dark and cathartic song. A little rough around the edges too.
