This mix is a tribute to me & Tim's buddy Craig, aka Crugga / DJ CJ,  who sadly passed away a couple weeks ago. 

Crugga was a DJ & collector from the Midlands who started off in the late 90's through early 2000's throwing DNB parties w/ his friends & brother Darren.  He quickly became known in the early 2000s on as a serious online seller for secondhand oldskool jungle vinyl, especially in the years before Discogs became the primary place to buy stuff. 

Tune-wise, Crugga put out a series of top notch white labels written by his friends, such as the "Trigger Happy" series and "Stomp". These spanned from Happy Hardcore and Jungle to even some UKG 
He also produced a track for Coco Bryce's "Ill Behavior" label a few years back.

Most importantly, Crugga was a super nice guy, always incredibly positive and good to talk to.  I never saw him get jealous or caught up moaning about the scene. Which as you all know is an EXTREMELY rare trait in jungle 😂 Just a great dude who absolutely loved his tunes and was happy tracking down records and selling them on to people who wanted them.

It's hard to appreciate it now that so much of this music is getting reissued, but Crugga and other big secondhand sellers were absolutely crucial in keeping the music alive and recirculating in those leaner years of the early 2000s.  I owe a big portion of my record collection to Crugga:  he sold me a huge amount of records between 2005-2020, and also has been the guy  remailing all my UK buys to me 2-3x a year for the past 15 years or so (!!).  In exchange, I was always happy to (virtual) dig through his cool bootfair finds and buy records off him, whether it was jungle, house, techno, reggae, etc.  He even sold me an Amiga years ago!

I'll really miss our chats, and deeply regret I never hung out with him in person, despite us talking online for so many years. I remember Tim telling me a few times how I should convince Crugga to come visit us in London during one of my UK trips, or I should at least take a train to meet him and finally put a face to the online presence. By the way, Crugga was officially the first person to ever sell Tim jungle/dnb records - surely he gets some award for that? 🤔

My deepest sympathies go out to his family, his close friends, and the wide network of friends he was in touch with over the years.  RIP Crugga. 

This hour-long mix contains all the whitelabels he released, minus the UKG one, and one Dan Silk one I couldn't find (it's not linked to him or Crugga on Discogs). Plus tunes off an unreleased Trigger Happy EP Crugga was planning to put out, and two of his own unreleased tunes he sent to me and Tim.
