Had some time and wanted to visit your strory telling once again///yho have such a way of creating...not only pictures...but multidimensional images...as they appeared to you as pieces of your past...I'm sure Nonnos(your grandfather) would treasure the thought that you hold his treasures in such high regard. You  had true love and respect for him...and that is a great trifecta...when accompanied with his love for you...which you obviously understood...or do so now in your adulthood...

"Nonno" by Halsted M. Bernard.

The lyrics are from 'Y una Madre', a traditional sephardic romance song originally in the Ladino language. The song is pre-1492.
I'm in debt to (and in awe of) Savina Yannatou's 'Songs of the Mediterranean' for introducing me to the song.

My musical setting has no connection to the traditional music.

'Why Little Bird Do You Not Sing' is a Thracian lament for the fall of Constantinople (1453). The city was the last remnant of the Roman Empire, and some historians consider its fall to mark the end of the Middle Ages. 
This is another song lyric I've used from Savina Yannatou's 'Songs of the Mediterranean' - although the music has no connection to the original ballad.
