Out of the blue in the Spring of 2006 I received an e-mail from recordings collector and musicologist MIKE MILLER of Ohio regarding some of my early recorded work.  It seems in the process of investigating THE FOUR SEASONS and their producer/writer BOB CREWE my name (David L'Heureux aka D.C. LaRue) kept popping up and cross referencing here and there in his searches.  He wanted to lean more about my involvement and friendship with FRANKIE VALLI and BOB CREWE and my early days of recording for Bob Crewe Productions. 

After several months of corresponding with MIke via the web and filling him in on my long and checkered career in the music business he volunteered to digitalize all my past recordings and recorded compositions and compile them on CD for posterity.  I didn't think anyone would really care except a handful of close friends but why not?  What fun!!

After all the pieces were put into place for creating the CD Mike then asked me if I would agree to a "live" telephone interview for a more intimate, personal POV should there be a further need for information when writing the CD liner notes.  Of course I agreed and on the afternoon of July 2nd, 2006 he gave me a call and the interview began.

Attached is a copy of said interview.  It's been edited a little because the actual interview lasted well over two hours and included some information not really relative to my music and my career in the recording business.  But, at long last, here it is all ready for public consumption.  It even includes some mp3s of my very early pop 45s to give you an example of the direction of some of my past work. 

And please remember that this conversation took place long before my web site, Facebook fan page and the iTunes, Amazon and Spotify availability of my disco music through out the world.  Long before the Internet was there to create the current re-interest in my disco music contributions.  I would also like to add that in 2006 the prospect of my ever performing again, recording again or having an Internet radio program with a huge world wide listening audience didn't exist.  

So here is the interview just in case someone out there in cyber land has the slightest bit of curiosity as to where I came from to get to the present…where I am now.  It's quite the amazing story.....really.  Disco secrets reviled.

Admittedly this is a stressful time for my disco loving friends worldwide so I am sending out my love and pray that we all survive this pandemic.  NTR has suspended "live" broadcasts until further notice so here'll be no new DISCO JUICE programs for a while.   A major source of income has temporally  vanished. The evolution of dance music as experienced by Brooklynite Frank Ramos. While spinning a diverse collection of music (much of which has never been heard on the radio before), Frank shares his personal insight, which spans over 40 years: the various styles of dance music, the important DJs and clubs, the social, cultural, historical and beyond- all as it occurred in New York City.

At a young age, Frank Ramos was introduced to music through radio and live TV performances by R&B, Latin and rock artists. By the age of 14, he was buying records, by 17 he was going to clubs and concerts, and all the while he was expanding his musical tastes: jazz, funk, classical, film scores, reggae, Afro-pop, house, hip-hop and more. He also has amassed an equally diverse collection of music related books and magazines, which, coupled with his personal experiences, have contributed to his vast knowledge of music.

De la génération du minitel, de Goldorak ou des Raiders, j'ai découvert la techno et commencé à mixer sur vinyles à la fin des années 90. J'ai alors fait parti de plusieurs associations organisatrices d’évènements électroniques en Bourgogne, ma région d’origine. Dans les années 2000, j'ai ensuite officié comme DJ notamment dans le groupe JMPZ et en composant des instrus dans mon studio MAO. J’ai ensuite pas mal bouger entre Paris, Mâcon, Nancy et la Bretagne avant de revenir en Bourgogne en 2019. Même si je n'ai jamais vraiment lâché les platines, en continuant d’accumuler les galettes, je m'y suis remis plus sérieusement il y' a quelques années en passant au numérique, avec dans l’idée principale de partager mon amour de la musique et de la découverte par une sélection à la fois pointue et éclectique mais toujours orientée vers le dancefloor à base de Disco, Funk, Soul, House !
