Perforated Rhythms (Sw3rv3 - Mobile Unit) Freestyle Liquid Session

This was a fun Twitch sesh with the LLL chat crew. My boy @metapattern raided in early on after his epic first stream from his newly set up home studio. I eased into things with some deep and melodic jazzy lead-in tunes before moving on to some energetic and rolling feelgood fare. Dipped down to a darker vibe for some machine soul at the end of the first hour. Brought the energy up in the 2nd hour for a bit of a rolling  tech party vibe before dropping back down into soulful territory at the end. Overall I was pleased with the arc of the set; might have flubbed a couple of mixes where the energy didn't quite match from track to track, but perhaps I'm being too self-critical(as always). I really enjoyed my time on the stream. Big up to the homies coming thru with all the bits and channel subs. Your continued support def keeps me engaged. What a vibe in the chat this week! S/O to the LLL fam going from strength to strength! Folks fr showing up to hang and have a good time! This week I didn't have a clear map of how things were gonna unfold, but I knew I had some jamming new tracks I had saved to maybe play in hour 2. So I first started on a rolling deep vibe and moved into some soulful, funky liquid. By the time the 2nd hour came around we had some fun chat interaction happening. I raised the temp some with some stomping jump tech rollers to keep the party vibe going and then eased into a more soul tech vibe later into the set. Good times was had by all. Liquid Lovers Lounge (EP72|SEPT10|2022)

My day job has been keeping me busy —a true blessing— but consequently I've had little time for my usual weekly ritual of music vetting and archiving. Like every good DNB snob, I like to obsess over brand new releases to play on LLL. This week was the first time in about a year that I didn't do any significant prep, just dove right in and started playing. Of course I do still have dozens of older self-curated playlists ready, but I was still pleased with how I was able to navigate this set for 2 hours and keep some decent vibes rolling along. Starts off with some rollin liquid and soulful rollers, then bounces back and forth with some techy rollers. Some jungle and deep jungle type stuff around halfway, rounded out by some deep tech and party vibe rollers and going with deep heady rollers towards the end.

This sesh has a little bit of everything. Because of a busy work week I didn't have all that much time to hunt down a bunch of new music. I still fit a good amount in here, balanced out by some classic favorites of mine and picks from the last couple of years that maybe didn't get a lot of spins from me at the time. Things start on a soulful /jazzy liquid note into some more driving, chunky classic-style liquid about 45 minutes in. Second hour is more on a dub roller vibe mixed with some minimal tech rollers ending with some uplifting vibe stuff at the end where I kept playing a bit longer waiting to raid @doughdj's channel. Good crowd in the chat this week and happy spring vibes (at least for us in Georgia). Thanks to my LLL crew for coming through, catch you guys on the next one!

D:RC came up DJing (mostly drum'nbass) in the mid-90s while attending the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. As founding member of the local Phungus, Playtheavy and Sleuth Empire crews he found himself at the center of a burgeoning rave scene, collaborating with friends on dance music events in the Athens/Atlanta areas and beyond.

In 2004 he founded Studio:Machina, a graphic design practice geared towards the music industry. Building on his behind the scenes expertise and keen artistic instincts he's become an in-demand contributor on artistic projects in a variety of media. He's toured the US as member of the Smookie Illson bass music trio, serves as creative director for the Chicago-based Illeven:Eleven Recordings label and functions as brand/art director of several nightlife concepts. 

Behind the decks he currently heavily favors the sounds of DNB, but brief forays into breakbeat, house, UK Garage + Bass and dubstep are not uncommon. Get to know.
