This young, up-and-coming producer is one of the VIVa family’s favourite artists coming out of the Italian scene, releasing music with Lapsus, Octopus, Materialism and recently an incredible EP for Get Physical Music. 

With tracks signed on VIVa MUSiC and VIVa MUSiC Limited already under his belt, Adapter has delivered 3 original pieces for iVAV Recordings that are locked and loaded with huge drums, pounding bass and an undeniable groove - from the hypnotic synth of the title track “Aurora” and captivating vocal sample of “Paranoid”, to the rolling snares and frantic percussion of “Binary 85”. 

Remixes come from Rework (Visionquest, Items & Things) and Marc Molina (080 Records). 

Rework’s slick new take on Aurora retains the spacey synth lead but mixes in a smooth bassline and tight pad work to create a fantastic, atmospheric remix. Marc Molina submitted 2 versions of his Paranoid remix and we couldn’t turn down either of them - the “Warehouse Remix” features echoing drums and sweeping FX that, combined with the original vocal sample, create vibes suited for huge floors. The “Underground Remix” is a more subtle affair but not for lack of punch; the track’s foundation is in it’s driving, pulsing low-end, with arpeggiated stabs cutting seamlessly through the bass weight.

Shake The Funk

Released in 1997, this collaboration between Snitzer & Mc Coy and Humate captures the intensity of European techno at the time. The Heavy Mix rhythm presses forward with a force. Synth lines swell in arcs that hover above the drums.

The combination of producers brought together different strengths. The drive and weight of Snitzer & Mc Coy with the melodic sensibility Humate had honed across records like Love Stimulation. The result is a piece that can fill a floor while keeping an edge of mystery intact.
A defining release for Superstition and a track that has carried its power into new generations of listeners, it holds its place as part of our Classic of the week selection.

Do Not Sleep co-founder Darius Syrossian puts the remix treatment to budding UK producer Ronnie Spiteri and his new tune 'Spiral'. Syrossian, noted for standout cuts on the likes of Definition:Music, Roush and Mile End Records, has crafted a veritable warehouse weapon for Spiteri's very own platform Kenja Records.

Premiere: Ronnie Spiteri - Spiral (Darius Syrossian Remix) [Kenja Records]

Debuting for the first time his killer EP on the unparalleled, Roush Label, is DJ David Glass. 
The EP features United Kingdom vocalist, Moji, as well as three exuberant tracks that take you on an electrifying ride. Each song is an enticing stop on the journey, unique in its own composition. 

David Glass began perfecting the extent of his studio skills at the age of 18. He began with a deep-rooted interest in hip-hop and old school 90’s dance music, until one momentous visit to Circus Club irrevocably claimed his style. In most of his music today, he tends to lean to the darker side of House, sprinkled with essences of Tech. The first track, embodying fullness and vibrancy in its title, smoothly transitions to a similar, yet equally pleasurable song, ”Beat Freak.” It is an incontestable catalyst to elevate your energy levels.

The next track “Get Loose,” captivates listeners with its effervescent drum patterns, and sapid ambience.

To close out this experience the EP invites you to “Feel Much Better” as a final thought. A “dance-it-out” moment, if you will. So get loose, be free, and get moving with this contagious collection!

Kevin Over further cements his status as mobilee’s most exciting fresh talent with a blistering collection of unheard material, deftly showcasing the work of a young artist rapidly reaching critical mass. 
 
You don’t come to find yourself at the helm of one of the most successful underground house and techno imprints without a keen eye for fresh talent, that which has the potential to be nurtured, moulded and pushed to the next level. Anja Schneider has worked hard to hone that skill over the years, fine-tuning her instinctive, risk-taking persona; as a result, she just knows when someone is worth investing in. With that said, she new has her new protégé Kevin Over locked firmly in her sights – and with good reason.
 
But even so, for Over to find himself behind the wheel of one of mobilee’s annual long-form releases, despite him barely being over a quarter of a century old (not to mention having only met its founder in person less than a year ago), is quite something. But then again, Anja Schneider isn’t your usual A&R, and Kevin Over isn’t your usual ‘talent’ - as if his recent stellar run of EPs on Truesoul, Nofitstate, Avotre and of course mobilee in the last year alone, didn’t tell you already.
 
Part compilation, and part album, Over was keen to emphasize how this was his first musically extensive project which followed a defined musical structure, and was consistent in its vibe and mood from beginning to end; “I felt like I needed more of a defined direction at this point in my career, as many of my EPs had traversed a wide variety of styles. The whole process took around three months, drawing from my early influences in garage and Chicago house as well as older funk stuff. I definitely got lost down the Youtube rabbit hole whilst looking for things to sample! I’m also so proud of having some of my favorite artists such as Marquis Hawkes, Jacob Korn and Soulphiction on board for remixes as well.”

As a result, the package displays a remarkably well-rounded cohesion, despite many of the tracks being wildly disparate in a musical sense. They all contain that trademark Over sound that’s hard to put your finger on, be it the piston-driven, jacking drums, the use of dirt and distortion as a textural tool, or the understated yet catchy melodies. The gloriously gravelly deep house of ‘Vember’ contrasts beautifully against the woozy, euphoria of ‘Look At Me Sartre’. There’s everything from disco-inflected bangers (‘Pfeffi Care’) to bittersweet, nostalgic house making an appearance (‘Hillside Av.’), rounding off with his haunting take on Rodriguez Jr.’s 2012 anthem ‘Satellite’
 
As is tradition with the ‘Back to Back’ series, the full package will also be accompanied by a ‘best of’ mobilee tracks from the previous year, with tracks from Audiofly, Ray Opkara, Rodriguez Jr. amongst many others, and of course Anja Schneider herself. Kevin’s series of original tracks and remixes will be available to buy as a 2 x 12” gatefold package. A tour is also scheduled to follow.
