Rizmi is interested in the mystical dimensions of sound, music and movement, dissolving perceived boundaries between souls and time - into Presence.

The name ‘Rizmi' is sampled from the great polymath, Al-Khwarizmi, who in the early 800s, revolutionised scientific thinking by combining Greek and Hindu Sciences through a framework of Haqq (Truth) — demonstrating the Universality of knowledge beyond cultures, borders and language, through techniques we still use today (the word 'algorithm' is based on the latinisation of his name). 

In transitioning beyond economic, colonial, psychological narratives of disunity and hierarchy, music & art can be our greatest portals in affirming ecology, relationship and love as a unifying force.

Award-winning cinematic songwriter, self-taught pianist, vocalist and composer ELATRASI returns with electrifying power and raw emotion as she reveals her latest single ‘Lighthouse’.

Inspired by her North African-Arab heritage and childhood inspired by motion pictures, ELATRASI mixes her love of composition and storytelling with her deep cinematic vocals. 

Since her debut release ‘Heavy’ in 2021 she has garnered the attention of major music publications from the likes of Noctis, EARMILK and CLOUT, celebrated as ‘One To Watch’ from BBC Introducing and received international recognition as an award-winning songwriter.

The past year has seen ELATRASI develop her creative practice with industry support from Youth Music, Help Musicians, The Ivors Academy, Wigmore Hall and Abbey Roads Studios, as well as performing the National Anthem for the Moroccan Embassy. 

Her journey as an artist has been unconventional, with her release of Lighthouse marking two years since a life-changing and delayed diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. Time in self-reflection and songwriting has helped her to give herself permission to process, grieve and re-discover her identity as a neurodivergent woman. Continuing on her path she wants to embrace the world and inspire a challenge - ‘sail against the tide and find peace within the storm.’
