Its been 6 years since Danilo Plessow aka Motor City Drum Ensemble first emerged on the scene with his debut 12inch released on his own MCDE Recordings imprint.
Appropriately titled "Raw Cuts", the two tracks would start of a series of raw house jams Danilo made in his studio using old school samplers and drum machines,
a sound that at the time was far away from being status quo.
Having been heavily influenced by Soul, Jazz, House and Techno emerging from both the Motor City and beyond, Danilo found his signature sound - sample-based, raw,
emotional and mature tracks.
MCDE released two more "Raw Cuts" twelve inches in the coming years and it wouldn't be wrong to call them modern house classics - each of the records found support from all over the globe, from Moodymann to Gilles Peterson, and especially the last record of the series (Raw Cuts 5 & 6) was just everywhere in the year 2010.

What better way to end a concept series than to invite some people for remixing those tracks? People that inspired him to do this music in the first place:
Marcellus Pittman of 3 Chairs fame, Mike Huckaby, one of Detroit`s house heroes and synth nerd per excellence, plus lastly Recloose, whose unique approach to the Detroit sound has been a favorite of Danilo for years.

With a package this strong we will not bore you with more praise - just listen and enjoy.

They say birds of a feather stick together, and it looks like a few Get Physical birds have flown South for the last bit of winter. To be more specific, it's Get Physical’s turn to take on Miami once again. 

And, true to form, a compilation spanning 18 tracks from friends new and old means we've left no sun-bleached stone unturned. We're talking palm trees, tiny cocktail umbrellas and a hot, sticky helping of techy house, sexy vocals and shore-worthy buildups from the likes of label mainstays DJ Pierre, Ryan Murgatroyd, Tom Budden, Emanuel Satie and Hector Couto -who's strung the whole compilation together for your continuous listening pleasure. Also featured are fresh faces like Eagles & Butterflies, Mobius Strum and System of Survival, whose numerous contributions to the release make for some very welcome organic percussion and laid-back vibes of their own. Also featured is Tom Peters, who returns to Get Physical after appearing on our last Full Body Workout to team up with a certain Honey Dijon for the Miami bonanza. All with the Get Physical stamp of approval, of course.

Hector Couto - Behind - Get Physical Music

Seminal house label Strictly Rhythm released 'Let's Freak' back in March to great acclaim. Produced by sanXero and M.A.W.'s Louie Vega and featuring vocals from Mr. V, it comes with no surprise that exclusive remixes would shortly follow. This four track remix release includes productions from Hector Couto, Antony Toga, Francis Kasibante, and Arnaud D. In Hector Couto's remix, pulsating hi-hats and echoing drones build the groove but it's the irresistible bassline that orients the track as one destined for dancefloors peak-time.

Sanxero Ft Mr. V & Louie Vega - Let´s Freak (Hector Couto Remix)

Having had a remarkable start to 2016 with self aclaimed ‘Illicit Behaviour’ EP, Hot Creations & Paradise pacesetter - Jamie Jones - serves up his latest instalment via the Emerald City imprint.

Leading track ‘Land Of The Giants’ flows into rich orchestral elements, followed up by prominent electronic wobbles before switching the pace - implementing a complex instrumental structure from the get go. Collaborating with Hero Twins (Timothy D Jones – brother to Jamie – and Tarhan Ozkan) for the release, they introduce faint, haunting vocals, paired with a low rolling and distorted bassline to create an underground masterpiece.

In contrast to the title release, ‘The Shoplifter’ focuses solely on the electronic layers weaving throughout the record. The stripped back instrumental resonates a thumping bassline in turn with reverberating bleeps and a murmuring female vocal hook. The breakdown lends its ear to fierce, punchy orchestral chords before signing things off with echoing percussion – transcending Jamie’s ‘Lands Of The Giants’ EP as one of his most experimental workings yet.

Jamie Jones - The Shoplifter

Rome artist Whitesquare has gone from strength to strength in 2016 and he hasn't stopped to look around. Building on the success of records on Etruria Beat, Lyase Recordings and Culprit, he's back on Ralph Lawson's 2020 Vision Recordings for his third outing, this time with his most diverse EP to date - Diffraction. It's a standout four tracker and to back that up we present an exclusive stream of 'Folded Reality'. It's a dynamic tech house cut, which centres around an exciting bass-line and a thumping kick drum.

There's not a day goes by where we don't find ourselves thinking about just how much fun Bristol's biggest house-head Eats Everything is. On our glummer days we daydream about stepping into the bloke's shoes, just for an evening, and experiencing the thrill of smashing through chunky cut after chunky cut to huge, adoring crowds. Sadly it's never going to happen, so we'll just have to keep tapping him up for exclusive tunes so we can share them with you.

Today, we're delighted to be sliding the premier of a new club-banger from the Edible man. "Chitter Chatter (Dub Version)" is a rip-roaring, steely, clattering belter taken from a brand new EP on Pets Recordings, the label owned by Polish duo Catz N' Dogz. 

In addition to Eats' steely slammer, the release features fantastic material from Stefano Ritteri, Walker & Royce, and Kim Ann Foxman, making it the best four pack we've purchased since we stepped out of the local offie last week with a full-to-the-brim blue bag.
