Premiere: Hot TuneiK & Amber Long - Enn (Stereo Underground Remix) [Mango Alley]

An artist with a growing Meanwhile history, Mike Rish returns to the label with a 3rd original EP, this time with the “Akhnaton / Gröv / Cloudbreaker” triple-tracker.

A story that began in late-2021, Mike Rish and his “Beyond” EP ignited a spark that would go on to burn brightly amongst a galaxy of stars on GMJ & Matter’s flagship imprint. Already a regular on such celebrated labels as Kasey Taylor’s Vapour Recordings, Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music and Guy J’s Lost & Found, the Australian artist has continued to see his distinctive and mature production sound much sought after.

Now returning to Meanwhile for the first time since June 2023’s “GT / Shoreditch Funk / Reka”, “Akhnaton” is inspired by the Amsterdam club of the same name and host of Meanwhile’s debut label showcase at ADE 2023. Full of trademark character, the track is a pounding club floor-filler with white-noise back drop and chugging bassline intent. Full of mesmeric soundscapes, and cascading delays, the track builds in power as subtle melodies are introduced amongst the immaculately placed pauses that help ramp up the intensity. The result is a masterful affair.

Continuing the hefty rhythmic narrative, familiar tropes percolate around “Gröv” like a fine wine. Under a huge, throbbing backdrop of seismic beat and cavernous bass pattern, spine-tingling melodies float across the mid-range before coming to the fore at the extended breakdown. Adding to the sonic collage with a hypnotising off-beat chord motif, the track then drops back into the familiar form of earlier phases as it draws to its conclusion.

The final offering sees “Cloudbreaker” continue to push the sonic envelope with the immaculately crafted bassline extravaganza. Full of percussive intent with shaker-fuelled top-line, a richly syncopated melody captures dancefloor attention, held through a sustained bass phrase at the breakdown. Hitting its straps again in the third movement, the gargantuan groove and luscious melodic interplay break through in a stormfront of club vibrancy and brio.

A force to be reckoned with via another EP chock-full of skill, technique and craftsmanship, Mike Rish excels once more via his “Ahknaton / Gröv / Cloudbreaker” EP.

Clubsonica Records rounds out the summer season by welcoming Ruben Karapetyan back to the label for his debut EP. Born in Armenia but now calling Los Angeles home, Ruben Karapetyan has carved out a unique place in the electronic underground. His emotive synth leads and tough, dancefloor minded grooves have made for a resonant worldly sound that is all his own. Following a ten-year hiatus, Ruben made a triumphant return to electronic music in 2020 with a series of the releases via Mango Alley, Movement Recordings, The Soundgarden and Univack. On the strength of his fresh, progressive sound Ruben quickly earned praise from the genres trendsetters in Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also becoming a regular in Beatports competitive sales charts. This resurgence also re-established Rubens DJ career, one which saw him share the stage with Sasha & Digweed, Sven Vath and Orbital as part of lineups at legendary events and club nights such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Together as One and AgeHa, amongst others. Moving forward Ruben has been a force on the circuit, delighting progressive music fans with his exquisite taste and impeccable programming skills, with recent stops in Amsterdam, Armenia, India, London, Mexico, Pakistan and more. Seemingly in constant motion, Rubens Clubsonica debut came in 2023 with a remix of Kamikaze by K Loveski and Geronimo Eguiguren, a project which would be followed by a contribution to the labels popular Sampler series later that same year. Now, following a series of projects for his RKP imprint, Ruben returns to Clubsonica for his first artist EP Neurotransmitter | Parisian Vibe, alongside remixes from Gai Barone and Molac.

 Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of Neurotransmitter is Gai Barone. With an esteemed career stretching the better part of two decades, Gai Barone has become one of electronic musics most sought after artists. The renowned musician and Italian native has long been one of the industrys most fascinating producers. An unrivalled quest for the creation of something uniquely memorable and deeply moving has fuelled his sonic journey. As a true craftsman, it is this drive for excellence that makes each one of Gais studio creations met with much anticipation. Afterglow, Bedrock, Lost & Found, Renaissance and his own Patternized Recordings imprint have been landing spots for some of his most notable work, while progressive music trendsetters such as Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and more have been steadfast supporters along the way. In a year that has already seen Gai record chart topping remixes for Dreaming Awake, Golden Wings Music, RKP and Vapour Recordings, the talented Italian now returns to Clubsonica with an exhilarating take on Neurotransmitter. Taking a smooth progressive approach, Gai constructs a tight rhythmic core, complemented with punchy beats, reprocessed sonics and cascading arps. Its this colourful fusion of sound which ultimately makes for a version that is both melodic and club-effective; one that should crossover to a variety of dancefloors across the remainder of the summer season.

Neurotransmitter | Parisian Vibe

PREMIERE: Ruben Karapetyan - Neurotransmitter (Gai Barone Remix) [Clubsonica Records]

The latest release on Madloch's Sound Avenue finds the label showcasing the third remix edition for about:river's ‘24 Years Apart' album. First up is Hobin Rude who continues to impress with releases via Juicebox Music, Mango Alley and The Soundgarden. With great success, the Serbian artist takes ‘Seven Cats' into his elusive world of deep beats, emotive melodies and thought provoking atmospheres. Moving forward, Hot Tuneik returns to the label following a series of releases for his Guateque Music imprint. The Mexican artist adds his magical production touch to ‘Disappeared', resulting in a peak time interpretation that finds a cohesive balance between progressive house and melodic techno. Making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Keep Awake' is Mattim. Beloved for his releases via Juicebox Music and Mango Alley, the Argentine adds a dark production touch to the track, complete with menacing synth mutations and a charged groove for those darker dancefloor moments. Rounding out the release is Noble Spirits who make their label debut on the strength of releases for Kiksuya, Nordic Voyage and their own Dialtone Records imprint. The Mexican duo brings a deep, organic sensibility to ‘Frozen', not only adding further depth to the project, but capping the release off on a subtle yet heartfelt note.

Musique de Lune rounds out the month of September by welcoming Ogawa, OMB and Haruo Chikada to the label for their debut single. Hailing from Japan, this trio of artists have been pivotal in the development of their country's progressive house scene. Tokyo resident Daisuke Yamagishi aka OMB has been releasing music for over two decades, getting his start on influential label's like 3Beat and Audiotherapy, projects that were championed by Anthony Pappa, John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo. Meanwhile, hailing from Nagoya, DJ Ogawa has been one of the pioneers of Nagoya's underground scene. In 2001, he began his own event called SMASH at Club Mago and after 12 years of a solid reputation of high-quality music and world-class DJs, SMASH became known across the country, being favored by many international talents such as Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed and Satoshi Tomiie. Moving forward, Ogawa became a standout on the Japanese circuit, performing at many legendary clubs such as Womb, Yellow and AgeHa. Rounding out this trio of talents is Haruo Chikada, whose illustrious career began over 50 years ago in 1970. Chikada also holds the esteemed position of professor at the Faculty of Popular Culture, Department of Music at Kyoto Seika University, and has recent releases via Madloch's 3rd Avenue. Now, combining their extensive forces for Musique de Lune, the trio debuts on the label with 'CO2', alongside remixes from Kostya Outta and Analog Jungs.
