For this ReVision, I wanted to take a stab at an artist whose work has been a great source of inspiration for many modern disco and jazz-funk enthusiasts.

Formed in 1992, and fronted by singer-songwriter Jay Kay, London-based jazz-funk ensemble Jamiroquai rose to fame with their 1996 song, and most importantly video, “Virtual Insanity”. This single and iconic music video earned them 10 nominations at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, and a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, the same year.

Fast forward 4 years, “You Give Me Something” was released as the second single from their fifth studio album, A Funk Odyssey. The group’s first single to be released in DVD Single format, this song was written by Jay Kay, guitarist Rob Harris, bassist Nick Fyffe, and contributed to certified European Platinum sales status of the full-length.

I recreated and arranged this as an extended 12” mix instrumental DJ Tool. This version will be able to offer an alternative mix of this single for your prime-time DJ purposes.

Berlin based producer and live artist Ben Böhmer has risen through the Anjunadeep ranks to become a breakout star of the past 18 months, amassing almost 40 million streams, picking up BBC Radio 1 support from Annie Mac and Pete Tong, including an ‘Essential New Tune’, and being featured in Billboard’s ‘Ones To Watch’.

Ben marked an exciting new milestone in his career with the release of his debut studio album ‘Breathing’ last November, naming him one of Faze Magazine’s Breakthrough artists of 2020 as well as rising to No.1 album on iTunes Dance. With a string of outstanding remixes from acclaimed producers including Gui Boratto, Martin Roth, Tim Green and Volen Sentir, Ben closes the ‘Breathing’ chapter with a complete remix album with brand new remixes from Kidnap, CRi, Just Her and Bongbeck.

Anchoring on the heartfelt chords of the original, London based producer Kidnap a.k.a Matt Relton brings a refreshing touch to ‘Hunting’. A prolific producer whose distinctive brand of emotive house has won him the support of Maceo Plex, Jamies Jones and Sasha, Matt returns to the label after releasing his debut album ‘Grow’ on his own ‘Birds That Fly’ imprint.

Bright-based producer Just Her returns with a remix of ‘Little Lights’, demonstrating why she’s been championed by the likes of Maya Jane Coles, Tale Of Us and Agoria.

Rounding off the collection of new remixes, ‘Cloud 21’ gets reworked by Germany’s Bongbeck. Introduced to the label through Ben’s own imprint Ton Töpferei, Bongbeck puts a breakbeat spin on the original.

State Of Flow is back. After a 2 years hiatus since its last release, the Belgian label marks its return bringing into play South America rising talents Manglus and Guillermo de Caminos under their Aire Terra alias. With both guys busy keeping alive the vibrant local scene, the pair have provided two massive Latino-ish percussive originals that come packed with a remix by Roche Madame head Cesar Merveille.

Rounding out the package, Berlin-based Cesar Merveille injects to the original a good dose of analogue harm. A massive gloomy bassline rumbles undisturbed underneath sliced drums and vocal chops, channelling his energies to pure dancefloor intentions.

'Todd Terry protégé Ant LaRock has provided some gems for Exploited Ghetto previously in the form of ‘Grown Ups’ and ‘When’, and this latest effort are by far his strongest productions to date.
‘For You’ is a spacious, heads-down, pacey deep house / tech romp with soft acid tones, pulsing stabs, shuffling beats and a whistling arpeggio which pulls you into the delicious depths of Ant’s artistry. It’s the type of track that makes you pull that satisfying stink face, it’s so darm good.
This is one of two tracks on Ant’s latest release, the other track named ‘Alkebulan’, which centres around a rousing Afro chant, and splices deeper house and techno flavours in equal measure. Roland Clark’s vocal gives a dramatic edge, spinning a narrative yarn over the peppy percussion and subby bass tones. Blasts of low-slung synth drama swoop in and out dramatically before they switch to an uplifting chord progression.'

This great talent hailing from South-Africa is on a roll. After making his debut on our compilation earlier this year, Ginelio took the time for a sublime remix on Abel Flores banging Phowa.

Now @Ginelio is here with his very own workout existing out of two amazing tracks.

The title track "Miles Apart" is a luscious groove with a lot of emotion attached to it. Amazing vocals and arpeggiated synths taking care of a mesmerizing and euphoric moment. Close your eyes and and let music guide you.

"Synth Sex" is a luscious & arcane delight with the naughty details that have been added. This is a fantastic groove with a rolling beat that'll make it proper music for any dancefloor.

Brussels-based DJ and producer @amaretechno is back once again on the label. She took the opening track to make it her own. She adds groovy textures and pumps up the bass. No peak-peak time banger, but one that'll keep everyone dancing for sure.
