We are thrilled to welcome the genre-bender italian duo gizA djs to When We Dip XYZ with ‘Living In A Glitch’. The EP is a great introduction into the creative world of Tiziano & Gian Petro, where staple electronic music sounds are morphed into uniquely crafted, high-energy dancefloor cuts. Diynamic, Glasgow Underground, Exploited and KitKat Club are just a few of their very impressive list of cosigns. 

The release kicks off with ‘Devotion Machine’, on which the 303 and robotic vocals evoke the paradox of technology which remains futuristic decades after being out in the world. Off the smashing second drop, a melancholic synth line completes the tune. 

‘Living In A Glitch’, is a powerful track where technological perfection is constantly interrupted by unforeseen glitches. The ever-changing leading melody constitutes the backbone as the morphed vocals and percussions lead the groove in all kinds of twists and turns. 

On ‘Son Finto La Notte’ a robotic opera star sings about the gleam that characterizes his nights. Behind the curtain however, there is a certain phoniness to it all. Nonetheless, the energetic hats, lively ‘yeah’ and omnipresent risers take him and his listeners to an undeniable dance. 

‘Echoes Of Victory’ is the conclusion of the EP, evoking a sense of peace after a long period of turmoil. On the original mix, the breaks turn into 4/4, marking the last exclamation before the final fade away. An alternative fully breakbeat mix is also available.

Following INVŌKER’s ‘Superhero’, When We Dip XYZ is proud to present ‘The Chaos Inside’ from Imeïa, who has already been spotlighted on imprints such as Isolate, Frau Blau and Sum Over Histories. On this EP, the enigmatic producer blends impactful grooves, uncharacteristic delays, poignant textures and creative use of silence.

Things start off with ‘Le Pire Pour La Fin’, a deep cut which is led by a slow, drawn-out melody which recedes in favour of the bassline and noise-heavy plucks.
 
The eponymous ‘The Chaos Inside’ brings the energy levels a few notches up. The layered pad and choir initiate a progression of epic proportions over the simple, driving groove. The impacts, risers and glitches all accentuate this feeling of immensity. 

On ‘Elegancia’, the doubled kicks and resounding vocals set the scene for the larger than life lead synth. A subtle acid touch on the bass completes the tune. 

The last track, ‘Blue Romance’ displays the clearest vocals we’ve seen from Imeïa so far. The line ‘I don’t wanna be a fool, I just wanna be a tool’ is repeated throughout the intro and outro. A screaming guitar announces the highlight of the tune, with its uplifting bass pattern and toy-like percussions. An alternate dub mix is also available.

Premiere: Mario Puccio - Reborn (James Organ Remix) [Intu Music]

Kicking off 2024 with his first A Tribe Called Kotori EP of the year, label boss Oliver Koletzki returns pedal to the metal. Titled 'La Hora de Mosquitos', this new colossus of a two-tracker treats us to an epic whirlwind of rolling techno and hypnotic house laced with a solid bit of 80s guitar solos. Ready to take any stadium by storm, the title-track hybridizes Koletzki's signature heavy-duty four-to-the-floor approach with a tang of Santana-esque Latin rock, glamour yet pensive, packing an equal amount of punch and cinematic dreaminess - which would honestly not feel out of place in a Michael Mann feature. Mixing the tried-and-tested Chicago-style shuffle with a cutting-edge sound design and that tang of opaque, nightly ambience a la Miami Vice, Koletzki serves up a wistful pumper of a tune that, all nostalgic it is, doesn't dwell the past. An understated weapon that starts off as a metronomic puncher but slowly hatches into a big-room-ready electrifier, 'Satya' merges the finest of Italo's steadfast flowrate with a string-laden buildup that gets all the more muscular as bars unfold, gently blurring the lines between space-discoid funk and a somewhat pop and trance-infused attitude.
