We welcome Jelly For The Babies and Buba to Monog Records with the superb debut Emocija EP. Both these guys have amassed extensive back catalogues over the years, garnering much respect from their peers. From a young age, JFTB was into electronic music and, since 2007, he has been honing his studio skills in the production of various genres of music. He manages three labels and boasts worldwide support. Buba is considered one of the most promising producers to come out of Montenegro. Currently he is enjoying the release of his studio album – Dreamlands, and we’ve no doubt his creativity will grab a lot of attention. We’re delighted to have both on board.

The Original Mix of Let creates a solid, driving break beat groove. Chunky beats and bright hats are joined by exotic percussions which takes us deeper into the vibe. Dark stabs and a strong, pulsating bass lead us deeper as cosmic synths add a melodic charm to the groove. The break adds serene beach ambience as the synths open up for maximum impact before the beats return for the duration. Not to be missed.

First up on the remix we have Christopher Ivor's Daydream version of Let. Christopher is no stranger to Monog having debuted here with The Dreamscape EP. Growing up with music steered him to take the DJ, producer path he is on now. Over the years his style has become very broad and eclectic and this is something we love to celebrate. Here, Christopher delivers a beautifully composed and enchanting cut with a distinct Balearic vibe that makes you long for a trip to the White Isle. Buttery smooth beats and warm basses are joined by sounds of the beach and that rich, whispered yet hair-raising vocal. Melodic arpeggios become infectious as we’re lured into the mesmeric groove. Top-notch stuff that does not disappoint.

The Original Mix of Talas is a deeper affair, with sub level basses droning on the low end. The bass produces a powerful response with emotive changes, complimenting the rising and intense strings and synths. Rhythmic percussions and a nice punchy kick force you to move while the tensions rise. The break unleashes the full force of the stacked synths, taking us to a higher plain and making this an absolute must have.

Mario Neha debuts on Monog with a wonderful remix of Talas. Switzerland based DJ, producer Mario, boasts a wide and varied catalogue of releases over the years. He runs his own imprint called Inyan Music, releasing quality cuts at every turn. Great to have him here. On the remix here, Mario adds an extra sprinkling of grunt to the groove with those plucky synth basses which are contrasted with wispy pads and scattered FX. Rich and dynamic, the track exists on a multi-layered construction moving between the light and the dark with changing emotions. Beautifully worked and deftly executed, this one is a must have.

‘Velvet Shadows’ reflects a sentimental melody and synchronized vibrations, expressing a magical world with infinite imagination for a wonderful journey. Experience six minutes of joy, through the strings of an incredible refrain. 

‘Dione’ is a brilliant track, exposing the creation of hypnotic and intrigue atmosphere, is a three-note built for those pay-off moments in the peak of a set. The piano effect creates a great combination of romance and mystery notes, attached with the strings of an endless universe full of harmonies.

Rowee, Enigmatic - Velvet Shadows (Original Mix)

Label boss Madloch returns to 3rd Avenue with a new single entitled ‘Flow State'. With the majority of the Belgian artist's output being reserved for parent label Sound Avenue, it's a rare occurrence for Madloch to land on it's more progressive minded counterpart. May of 2019 did however yield the two track ‘Grindstone' EP, which found the Belgian artist focusing on the groovier, more esoteric side of the genre. Now making an unexpected return Madloch presents a new single alongside remixes from Subandrio and Beije. 

Although becoming increasingly more known for his deep, dubby productions; Madloch explores the tougher, peak time inspired side of his repertoire here. Pulsating and energetic, it's a creation built around rhythmic drive and tension filled motifs. Piercing tones and percussive flurries steal the air as a warm, fluid groove undulates below. As the first act evolves a hook heavy acid line fades to prominence, before a wave of frayed percussion unleashes emotive chord changes and impassioned overlays. Brief but impactful, the main break pushes the sonic envelope with one final rush of noise to spark an exhilarating finale. 

The first interpretation of ‘Flow State' is provided by Subandrio who makes his label debut. As one of his country's most highly regarded progressive music talents, the Sri Lankan artist has long been a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Releases on Cid Inc's Replug Records, Beat Boutique, Balance Music and Sudbeat sit prominently in his discography, as he continues to sit amongst the movement's elite. Now following a remix for Chris Cargo, the Colombo resident debuts on 3rd Avenue with a powerful rendition of ‘Flow State'. Always a creative remixer, Subandrio deconstructs the main elements into newfound themes for what sits as an ideal complement to the original. Atop a tough, full bodied groove comes rippling bass tones, clattering drums and buzzing synths. It's a remarkable sonic marriage and one which makes for an energetic yet tense journey, feverously peaking as sizzling acid lines burn across the break, before an exhilarating final act puts a cap on this creative gem.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Flow State' is Beije. The Canadian duo are no strangers to the Belgian imprint having delivered their ‘Novo' EP in 2019, while a remix for Jeff Eveline's ‘Crashes In Love' landed in March of this year. Also finding a home on Manual Music, Sound Avenue and Where The Heart Is, Beije's fresh take on melodic house has propelled them into one of the genre's top up and coming acts. Now making a welcome return to 3rd Avenue, the Toronto residents deliver an impassioned take on ‘Flow State'. Glacial lines, ethereal vocal wails and soulful strums unite for a gorgeous blend of sound and colour. Spirited instrumentation gets teased across the break, adding a nostalgic flair before effortlessly shifting energy into a glowing finale. A gorgeous remix from Beije which caps off a welcome return to 3rd Avenue for label boss Madloch.

Madloch - Flow State (Beije Remix) [3rd Avenue]

'Operating out of the global fashion capital, Davide Ferrario is a stylish new name within the world of underground dance music. With releases on Manjumasi, My Other Side of the Moon and Kitchen Recordings, the Milan based artist returns to Particles after remixing Rudy in February 2020. Now debuting with his twin-track "End of an Era" EP, the title track is an organic house gem that bristles with vibrant, low-slung groove and gently panned arpeggio backdrop. Before long, a beautiful and emotive piano section enters the fray, juxtaposed against heavy metronomic beat. Counterpoint melodies entwine effortlessly adding to the emotion and aural texture in an impressive opening. "Tempo" provides a slightly more powerful melodic techno vibe as driving beat and gated chords sit against each other in perfect unison. A shimmering arpeggio and glass lead motif add further intrigue as a free-flowing phrase swims from left to right with ease. The result is a track that showcases Ferrario's skill as a composer, producer and musician.

Estonian artist, Oleg Ivanov, "has an ear for the cinematic" through his about : river pseudonym. Concentrating on building a narrative through his music with stratified layers of sound and a wide and varied sonic palette, his music for Easy Summer, Astrolabe Recordings and Nie Wieder Schlafen has been a powerful indicator of his talent, not least through his six-track EP for the latter in June 2020. Making his Particles debut, the about : river remix of "End of an Era" revels in reversed playback of the original's powerful melodic sequences, while adding a sumptuous array of further production material. A new motif pierces its way through the mid-upper frequency range, complemented by an organic rhythmic framework that rattles along in stereo-panned groove and subtle ambient effects. The resulting reworking of Davide Ferrario is an impressive debut.

RIGOONI - When Midnight Comes [Higher States]

Petar Dundov has made an impressive mark on Proton Music thus far with a pair of typically high-class remixes. Reworkings of Simos Tagias and Huminal in September 2019 and 2020 has seen the Croatian become a welcome figure on the label. Returning to the flagship imprint after releasing the glorious new "Ghostmachine" EP with Gregor Tresher on Dubfire's SCI+TEC imprint in October 2020, Petar's debut solo offering for Proton Music sees the beautiful "Salvation / Nature of Nature" take centre stage.

"Salvation" is a typically smooth and melodious offering that glitters with delayed analogue synth lines and syncopated bass pattern. Building in seamless fashion atmospheric pads and a squelching 303-inspired lead line add intrigue and dancefloor character before counterpoint lines emerge at the mid-point. In tandem, a driving beat and rapid-fire hi-hat percussion create a stunning hypnotic framework. "Nature of Nature" lilts gently along with cleverly programmed bass patterns and percussive wood-block groove that hints at verdant jungle atmosphere. Subtle melodic lines sit atop in shimmering arrays and the 303 character contributes to the EP narrative while stereo-panned pads add class through emotive chord changes.

An award-winning iconic figure with two ARIAs to his name with band, Infusion, Jamie Stevens has been a welcome addition to the Proton family with his trademark sound and meticulous production methods. A global touring schedule and a regular on the likes of Bedrock, Lost & Found and Replug saw the Australian remix Rudy's "All Things Fade" for Proton Music in late 2019 while a reworking of Sam Hopgood's "Lobster" in May 2020 saw an impressive Particles debut. Now returning, the aptly titled "Deeper Version" finds Jamie Stevens present a glorious take on "Nature of Nature" as the subtle melodic flourishes of the original ripple across a backdrop of glittering arpeggio and swathes of additional production material. A new lead line swims across the stereo spectrum as a combination of open cutoff filters and textured pads create a wonderful zenith at the mid-point. A rolling beat and percussion adds head-shaking groove to proceedings in an inspiring new interpretation.

Following on the footsteps of their "Astral" EP in May 2020, Trilucid & Phil Martyn have become firm favourites with the Proton cognoscenti. Via the original and standout remixes from Dmitry Molosh and Bluum, the trio built upon success garnered from a pair of remixes for Stas Drive in March 2019 and Pole Folder's "Serengeti" in April 2020. Now returning to the label, Trilucid & Phi Martyn have produced a gloriously melodic reworking of Dundov's title track as their combined talent produce a dark and sinister vibe that drives effortlessly a grooved bass pattern. An enhanced 303 synth line adds weight and acetylene-torch edge to proceedings as clever use of original components, plus a swathe of original production material, create a dynamic remix that opens up with smooth harmonious tones at the mid-point and into the third movement. The result is another high-calibre offering from the seasoned UK artists.

Offering "Salvation" via a pair of new original track and remixes from Jamie Stevens, Trilucid & Phil Martyn, Petar Dundov has provided a musical force of nature.
