La preposición procedente del latín CIRCA se utiliza en bibliografía científica, en documentos históricos o en genealogías para ubicar temporalmente un acontecimiento y determinar mediante supuestos, en qué momento de la historia de la humanidad ha podido suceder. Con este título este nuevo trabajo de Jëan Fixx busca desplazarnos a un tiempo indeterminado donde la relación del ser humano y la tecnología es tan estrecha que ya no se alcanza a diferenciar el mundo virtual del real.

En este compilatorio de remixes Jëan Fixx nos presenta “Last Call”, un nuevo tema que funciona como epílogo del EP CIRCA, en el que nos invita a tomar conciencia y acción de forma urgente en relación a nuestro presente y por lo tanto nuestro futuro. Este track combina elementos de techno clásico con arreglos más industriales y atmosféricos, junto a sonidos melódicos que nos retrotraen a la década de los 90, aportando un tono épico y progresivo que ya habíamos escuchado en algunos temas anteriores suyos como “Tannhäuser Tor” (2022) o “Globalizer” (2020).  Junto a esta nueva pista encontraremos las revisiones de los tracks de CIRCA realizadas por Death Whistle, Leuter, Drow, Ekkofault y Ermete Lo Stige, aportando otras aproximaciones estéticas posibles del EP original, llevándonos a diferentes estados emocionales a través de cinco ópticas muy personales:  
Death Whistle nos lleva a un universo profundo y oscuro con influencias del IDM, el bass y el glitch, a través de la revisión magistral que hace del tema de influencia transhumanista “Virtual Body Language”. 

El remix de inspiración downtempo y tech house que nos presenta Leuter del tema “CIRCA”, nos muestra una narrativa progresiva elegante y flotante que nos seduce con pequeños lapsus de síntesis experimental.   Drow nos sorprende con esta contundente y precisa remezcla de techno oscuro y minimalista, en la que la firmeza de los vocales del tema “The Truth” acompañan una frenética línea de bajo que nos arrastran irremediablemente a la pista de baile. 

El productor y DJ italiano Ermete Lo Stige, a través de la intensa y emocional remezcla que ha hecho de “Last Call” nos sumerge en sonidos industriales y atmósferas oscuras que nos remiten al EBM y al techno progresivo, que habitualmente encontramos en sus producciones.

Los 36 minutos de este EP se completan con la remezcla de “Humans” de Ekkofault nos transporta a un transformador amanecer, melódico y luminoso, en el que el encontrar paz y consuelo de la mano de un tema con influencias ambient, chill out y aportes vaporwave.

RSPKT178 is the long-awaited debut EP from Brennen Grey on Respekt. After a killer remix on Stiv Hey's 'Can't Stop' a year ago, we're hyped to have him back on the label with 3 servings of his signature aural cuisine.
'Carpe Omne' kicks things off with soaring, off-kilter arpeggios and gated vocal fragments, before peaking with a massive, laser-reaching breakdown, then steaming back in with all out mayhem.
'Voice of the Void' continues the eerie theme with gothic choirs and demonic drones, whilst 'Les Dieux' serves as a less melody-driven counterpoint to it's sister tracks, relying on a seismic kickdrum and sparse synth stabs to round out the release.

Brennen Grey - Voice of The Void

A firm Drumcode favourite, Mark Reeve is back with his latest techno opus.

Weaving his vitalising, biting techno through the seminal imprint since 2012, Reeve has since become a permanent fixture within Adam Beyer’s camp. He saw demand for his knockout ‘Run Back’ EP being matched and surpassed by his ‘Far Away’ EP, which bagged the number one spot on Beatport’s techno chart. Staunch DC fans will also be familiar with Reeve’s output on the label’s A-Sides compilation series, and clubbers hot on the tails of Drumcode events will have caught him centre stage across a string of showcases, including the inaugural Drumcode Festival.

Reeve’s music invariably endorses an arresting sonic aesthetic, with intense melodies often driving in those eye-closing moments. The title track ‘Distance’ is an atmospheric opening gambit set to sonically massage the senses with uplifting pads and a radiant melody. ‘Serum’, a track recently road-tested by Beyer at a special event in collaboration with Cercle, soars and captivates as it progresses with a low-end rumble and intricate keys. ‘Fix Me’ is a vigorous techno workout that’s intent on energising a clubroom rammed with sweat-soaked dancers. Closing off the EP, ‘Filmwave’ rides a killer groove into a pit of punchy, powerful kicks.

‘Hypnosis’ was one of Drumcode’s most vital under-the-radar releases of 2019. Its creator, Veerus, returns to the mothership for another top-shelf offering.

The Italian’s career is a brilliant slow burner, releasing EPs sparingly over the course of his 14-year career. There’s a narrative quality to each track too, the artist reveling in a drama-laden call-and-response dynamic. All three cuts from his latest ‘System’ EP are made for big moments. The title track was created with Amsterdam’s holy rave cauldron the Gashouder in mind, and was completed by Veerus just a few days before ADE last year. Balancing on a knife’s edge between tension and euphoria, the track’s twisted synth lines sent an energy surge through the iconic venue.

'UMEK’s label 1605 continues its Desiderati series of mixed artist releases and this new one features the label boss himself alongside Dok&Martin, Julien Earle and a collaboration between Uto Karem & Gaston Zani.

Following a string of Beatport No.1 selling tracks, UMEK’s new track “Distinct Operator” follows his winning formula blending a thundering kick drum with breath-taking synth lines. Adding operatic vocals in the breakdown, this unique cut is perhaps the first-time opera and techno have been merged with such stunning and emotional results.

Not to be out outshone, Uto Karem & Gaston Zani also bring their 'A' game having each individually featured on labels such as Intec, Set About, SCI+TEC and Tronic. The guys also have a collaboration forthcoming on Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave, and this dark and pulsating cut is in a similarly intense style.

Dok&Martin contribute to this EP fresh from the success of their track “Destroyer” which recently spent a long period inside Beatport’s Top 10 Techno Chart. Destroyer was released on Markantonio’s AnalyticTrail, but the guys have also featured on other imprints including Spartaque's Codex Recordings and and Spektre's Respekt Recordings. The new track “Isolation” is another explosive cut with twisted hypnotics and ominous atmosphere.

Julien Earle provides the last track, and is back on 1605 after previously featuring on the first Desiderati release. He has also contributed to Ramon Tapia's Say What? and Steve Mulder's Orange Recordings. His track “T4T9” has an uplifting energy shrouded in a shadowy aesthetic making it a perfect techno track for peak time plays.'
