Following on from the February 2022 remixes, Meanwhile now returns to Alex O’Rion’s EP as “Echium Remixed, Pt. 2” continues with another trio of outstanding interpretations.

 

A legendary figure in the world of art, music and underground dance, Roger Martinez has been a central figure with his kaleidoscopic sound and spiritual influences. Music signed to Lost & Found, Replug and his own Higher States have confirmed this status while July 2020’s “Cosmic” was a further notable highlight on Meanwhile. Now returning to GMJ & Matter’s imprint, the Roger Martinez remix of “The Chase” is an uptempo offering that draws on his musical influences with a powerful beat and deep bass groove. Using pitched elements from Alex’s original, vocal cuts shift in stereo-panned glory and epic white-noise risers and infinite delays create a dense swirling atmosphere. Pausing at the breakdown to introduce additional melodic elements, the track then drops back into its hypnotic groove as new melodic motifs create the aptly titled “Interdimensional Remix”.

 

GMJ & Matter return to their flagship imprint with typical flair and aplomb. Able to point to a rich catalogue of original and remix work in both solo and collaborative guises throughout Meanwhile’s two-year reign at the top of the progressive house charts, the Melbourne based duo provide a powerful and dynamic rendition of the title track. GMJ & Matter have thus taken the effects fuelled “Echium” and transformed it into a dark seething progressive house monster that lurks beneath gently pulsing waves. Serene in its build, delayed synth phrases cascade over each other in endless delay while new melodies twinkle across the mid-range in trademark-soaked reverb and elegantly stratified sonic layers. Maintaining the aural themes sculpted by Alex O’Rion in the original, GMJ & Matter have successfully navigated a new and dynamic path through the beautiful “Echium”.

 

Imran Khan has cemented a reputation as one of the progressive house fraternity’s leading lights. Almost a double century of production credits has seen remix and original music land on the likes of Mango Alley, Proton Music and Clinique, since a 2016 debut for the latter. Moreover, 2021’s “Push Thru / Horizonz” and “Equinox” have delighted the Meanwhile faithful. Returning for a third remix, the Imran Khan reworking of “The Serpent” is a typically deep and atmospheric affair with huge thumping beat and cavernous bass groove dominating the low end. Capturing the flowing melodic phrasing of the original, pitched synths and pulsating white-noise risers create a thick soup of sound that evolves in bubbling sonic patterns with their origins in Alex O’Rion’s impressive production technique. The resulting marriage of two musical identities finds Imran Khan once again illustrating his impressive production credentials through trademark sound design.

 

Another musical triptych pays tribute to the sonic diversity found in Alex O’Rion’s music as Roger Martinez, GMJ & Matter and Imran Khan open up in full bloom through the towering “Echium”.

Commencing transmissions for this initial broadcast, 'Meloram' manifests undulations that fluctuate over a dense low-end as aqueous melodic spheres levitate suspended, defying gravity, expanding and bloating before bursting into a most entrancing sequence. With every chord progression, a chemical reaction occurs, offsetting a euphoric sense of effervescence as we gravitate in unison with each melodic impulse for a rapturous breakdown that challenges the very laws of physics. Transensations Welcomes Russian producer SERGEY MUZARKS who joins the label with the EP BREEZE, including remixes by ANDRE MORET and HOBIN RUDE.

The main theme "Breeze", is a well crafted progressive track, with an energetic drive groove. Hobin Rude returns to Transensations with another stunning remix, a denser and hypnotic, previously supported by Hernan Cattaneo on his live sets.

Second track "Infinity", has a deeper and introspective feeling with soft elements and a beautiful melodic breakdown. Closing the EP, Brazilian producer Andre Moret, bring another great remix, adding his sound signature with rhythmic ambience and hypnotic atmosphere filled with a nice percussion.

The progressive house legend Rick Pier O'Neil @rickpieroneil returns to Univack, this time accompanied by the also well-know artist Paul Hamilton @paulhamiltonofficial , to make 'Heven's Gate', a Progressive House track, full of melodic, percussive and cinematic  elements, which make an elegant, dark, and epic atmosphere.

The release is completed with the remix by Andrea Cassino @andrea-cassino . This Italian (Argentina based) producer has known choose the right elements froms the original mix, to make a different versión, with more atmospherical and melodic elements, a bit sweeter, more emotive, but also perfect for the hottest moments of your sets.

Rick Pier O'Neil & Paul Hamilton - Heaven's Gate (Andrea Cassino Remix) [Univack]

'Juicebox Music's 63rd release sees Dowden & Forty Cats teaming up for a 2-track EP featuring "Orbit" & "Airtime". Initially making her debut on our label with another collaborative EP with fellow countrymen from Russia - Meeting Molly & Mango and then following up with a single release titled "Moscow Time", Christina Gavrilova aka Forty Cats has become an integral part of our roster. While Dowden, better known to his family & friends as Brenden Dowden, recently joined the label with a remix of Alan Cerra's "Arrival" early this year. Equipped with an arsenal of techniques by being a music production instructor & inspired by a fairly wide-ranged style as well, Dowden's carved his name into becoming a household name for many fans & DJs alike. Collectively, Dowden & Forty Cats' music can be found on well established imprints like Hernan Cattaneo's 'Sudbeat', Lane 8's 'This Never Happened', Mango's 'Mango Alley', Eran Aviner's 'Edge' + GMJ & Matter's 'Meanwhile' to name a few. With this first ever collaboration between the two, Dowden & Forty Cats' delve into their strengths to create a perfect balance. Embracing a theme around space, "Orbit" gets powered by a strong drive with softer floating melodies while "Airtime" embraces the groovier side with delayed riffs swirling about with special oratory notes slotted in. 

We're excited to welcome back Alan Cerra as the sole remixer on this release. Relatively new in the industry, the Santa Cruz (Argentina) based artist has been releasing some amazing music over the past 3 years with highlighted labels such as Roger Martinez's 'Higher States', Armen Miran's 'Hoomidaas', Integral Bread's 'Univack' as well as Mike Koglin & MoodFreak's 'YOMO' to name a few. Having made his first appearance on our imprint with "Caravan" on our inaugural edition of Fables and then following up with a 2-track EP featuring "Henkere" & "Arrival", which featured a remix from Dowden, it seemed fitting to have Alan return the favour. Alan Cerra's rendition of "Airtime" retains the tonal flavour of the original's elements but with a more oomph to crank the vibe level up to eleven.'

Deepwibe Underground opens the new year by welcoming EANP to the label for their debut EP. Having worked together since 2014, it wasn't until 2018 that Buenos Aires residents Ezequiel Anile and Nicolas Petracca decided to coin the EANP alias for their collaborative efforts. Now firmly established, the moniker has become synonymous with quality progressive music. Continued support from genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, along with key releases for Balance Music, Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers and Replug have made the Argentinean duo a much in-demand act. Now coming off a remix for Musique de Lune , EANP makes a much anticipated debut on Deepwibe Underground with 'Lilac'.

Making his Meanwhile return on GMJ and Matter's first release of 2023, Ivan Aliaga presents his "Sami" EP where four original tracks combine with a single remix from Sebastian Sellares.

A growing Argentinean artist who first debuted on 3rd Avenue in mid-2019, Ivan Aliaga has already seen a swathe of releases featured on the likes of Mango Alley, Beat Boutique and onedotsixtwo. Returning after a July 2022 debut on "Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 2", the "Sami" title track is a chunky rhythmic jewel that immediately captures the attention with its spot effects and steam-powered white noise fills. A muted melody gradually filters into range over its 8-minute as arpeggio and vocal cut add to the rich collage of sound. "Simetrica" continues the hefty rhythmic foundation as a panoply of delayed voices, whispered textures and strong bass groove add texture. Swooping pads add intrigue and a smooth progression at the breakdown creates emotion before the track explodes again in the second half.

The delicate arrangement of "Futura" quickly appeals with its atmospheric swells and beautiful melodies. A delayed motif provides a distant echo from Sasha's "Airdrawndagger", while a rapid-fire hi-hat pattern supplies dancefloor urgency. With metronomic rhythmic precision, the track continues with coruscating melodic ease in the second half to create a perfect juxtaposition. The final original track finds, "Animatica" evolving through use of pulsating pads and mirrored groove pattern. Hitting a rousing crescendo at the breakdown courtesy of ethereal pads and whispering voice, the driving rhythmic forces of earlier movements drives the track onwards to it conclusion.

A Meanwhile regular, April 2021's "Dunes at Dawn" EP and a pair of remixes sees Sebastian Sellares returns to the label after February 2022's remix of Alex O'Rion's "The Serpent". Reworking the title track, the Argentinean star makes intelligent use of the themes resonating through "Sami" as a hypnotic rhythmic bedrock provides the perfect foundation for smooth melodic lines to flow gently across the piece. Trademark motifs and counterpoint phrases swell gently towards a rousing breakdown, where new melodies and additional production material converge in a wondrous sonic storm. Melody and rhythm then combine in the second half to mesmerising effect.

With ice-cool precision and a crystal-clear sonic vision, Ivan Aliaga finds a new world of sound within "Sami".
