'Birds Of Mind's MINDGAME label continues to be one of the finest outlets for underground sounds with a new single from NIIXII that comes complete with a remix from DSF. NIIXII is an Iranian sensation based in Barcelona, renowned for engaging compositions as proved here.

Me & You is a sublime and immersive soundscape with tender piano keys draped over rolling drums. There is grace in the pads and elegance in the deft vocals that are sure to cast a real spell on dance floors. Me & You (DSF Remix) is more energetic and electric, with skipping kicks and tumbling synth arps full of soul.

Italian outfit Alaia & Gallo have quickly made their musical mark on the House adjacent scenes, dropping material on top outlets such as Defected, Toolroom, and Club Sweat, often appearing in the Top 100 Beatport genre charts. Following their ‘Fazer’ single, which picked up tons of support via the airwaves from the likes of Roger Sanchez and MK, the hotly-tipped pair return to Junior Jack’s Adesso Music with a remix of Massimo Conte’s ‘Can You See’, opting for rowdy synth action, raved-up stabs and hefty drums for another dancefloor smash.

A multi-talented figure in the global house landscape, Amsterdam’s M-High has emerged from his ‘one to watch’ tips from a long list of key players in the industry. His growing sound has seen the Dutchman take in a wider range of influences from minimal through to electro, leading to releases on LOCUS, You&Me, and Djebali, amongst others. Following his heavily requested anthem ‘Devil’, the young talent stands out again as he makes his Hot Creations debut with a trip through futuristic basslines and silky, smooth house rhythms across his four-tracker, ‘Search 4 Pleasure’.

Up first, ‘Taste It’ merges acidic tones and sci-fi grooves that playfully dance over flickering stabs and lush, soulful vocals. Next, 'This ‘N That’ delivers thudding kicks and swirling sirens that lock you into its relentless breakbeat groove, while ‘Hello You’ harnesses an infectious bassline with assertive percussion and electro-tinged melodies. To close, ‘Search 4 Pleasure’ continues to bring the energy as sparking synths and robotic vocals go to work to shape up the EP in style.

Returning with its latest instalment of melodic and driving cuts, Purified Records reveals Fragments XXIV. Opening with a striking and powerful offering, Hungarian producer CHRSTPHR fuses orchestral and deep elements in ‘Be Somebody’. Devising a dramatic soundscape with cinematic textures, Dutch producer MI;LAN delivers his instrumental cut ‘Eclipse’. Entering a progressive soundscape, French artist Evy Joy combines operatic vocals and fluctuating instrumentation in ‘Powerful Harmony’ to bring the compilation to a close. 

The Fragments XXIV artwork showcases a school of Barracudas, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Barracudas are sleek, predatory fish known for their sharp teeth and swift, aggressive hunting style in the ocean. They can grow up to six feet long and are often found in tropical and subtropical waters, where they use their speed to ambush prey. Despite their fearsome reputation, barracudas are an essential part of marine ecosystems, helping to maintain the balance by controlling the populations of smaller fish. Following his ‘Cold Strings’ EP back in May earlier this year, German producer Alex Breitling returns to Purified Records with his latest offering ‘Skyfall’. Devising a melodic soundscape with undulating synth patterns across deep bass, his latest cut embodies his euphoric and powerful musical identity. 

The ‘Skyfall’ artwork showcases an image of a hammerhead shark, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Hammerhead sharks are known for their distinctive, hammer-shaped heads, which give them an advantage in maneuverability and detecting prey through specialized sensory organs. These adaptations make them highly effective hunters of stingrays, fish, and other sharks. Unfortunately, many hammerhead species are endangered due to overfishing for their fins, habitat destruction, and bycatch, making conservation efforts crucial to their survival. We are overjoyed to present Max Flyant and Vintage & Morelli's "Only Silk 05," the fifth edition in the near-annual compilation series, inspired by the radio show and podcast of the same name. A two-part compilation of 31 deep house, progressive, and downtempo cuts, written by a variety of celebrated international artists, this year's edition begins with the deep and atmospheric selections of Max Flyant and culminates with the peak-hour favorites of Vintage & Morelli, who joins the Only Silk series for the first time, in Shingo Nakamura's stead.

Onedotsixtwo continues to showcase the finest rising global talent in 2020 by welcoming those Argentine masters of groove and emotion, Oliver & Tom back to the label for their debut ‘Penny’ EP release, having previously been introduced to the onedotsixtwo audience via their contribution to Gustin’s excellent ‘Synchronicity’ (ODST0019) mix comp. Another super-talented Argentine DJ/Producer, Nico Szabo, provides an excellent remix of ‘Penny’ to complete this outstanding package.

The title track is a pulsating beauty, its futuristic melodic mastery conjuring up images of an electronic past signposted by the likes of Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk, which Oliver & Tom then uniquely re-imagine for the future in a proper progressive musical framework. The duo’s skilled musicianship sets them apart from the crowd, a symbiosis that originated in their childhood, having grown up together playing guitar and drums, followed by studying piano and synthesizer. 

Their highly impressive musical and studio skills first caught the attention of Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden in 2017 and their career trajectory has continued upwards ever since. Already busy through 2020, their releases have previously appeared on Tarnished Tracks, Balkan Connection, Vested Recordings and Massive Harmony. But, never ones to rest on their creative laurels, it is ‘Penny’ along with the perfectly complimentary, heavenly melodic wonderment of ‘Till Sunrise’ that are perhaps their finest works yet. 

Nico Szabo is another prodigious young talent emanating from Buenos Aires whose ever-growing array of remixes, on the likes of Clinique, 3rd Avenue and Balkan Connection, have been turning heads already throughout the first half of 2020. Another talented musician, having studied guitar and electric bass from the age of 12, Nico’s studio skills are now focused on producing the finest proper progressive house music. Here he takes ‘Penny’ on a deeper journey, sprinkling his arrangement with beautiful melodies and locking everything down to perfection with a super-tight groove.
