Opening 2022's final quarter, Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Mike Griego back to the label for a new EP. Based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean DJ and producer has carved out a unique place in the electronic underground. His exacting design, addictive grooves and avant-garde melodies have made for a transcendent sound that continues to unify dancefloors around the world. With a career that now approaches fifteen years and one hundred discography credits, Mike would have to be considered one of progressive music's elite artists. A meticulous discography reflects his choosy nature; with Replug and Sudbeat serving as the primary landing spots for his musical output. With 2021 being highlighted by his most recent Replug vehicle ‘Dysbiosis', the Argentine made a much-lauded return to Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music earlier this year with ‘Foreign Affair', before laying down impressive renditions of Kasper Koman's ‘In Circles' and Dmitry Molosh & Navar's ‘Foreign Wonders', released c/o Juicebox Music and Proportion respectively. Now, continuing what has been a great year, Mike returns to Replug with a three-track showcase entitled ‘Flying Doves'. 

As a favourite of Replug label boss Cid Inc across the summer season, EP opener and title selection ‘Flying Doves' finds Mike at his creative best. Shot in high-definition and full of detail and drive, it's an emotive voyage where the Buenos Aires resident flexes his freethinking muscles and lands comfortably in-between groove-centric science and hopeful musicality. The inevitable zenith of this peak-time excursion mounts with nostalgic melodies and balmy harmonics converging, achieving a rich, colourful timbre over a bed of pulsating beats and fascinating percussion arrangements. 

More enigmatic yet is the EPs second selection 'Brothi'', a creation which finds Mike etching towards a darker monochrome. Plush kick drums and voluptuous bass stabs lead to electrified iterations of new age sonics. Cleverly cadenced coactions underpin a fascinating blend of pyrotechnic effects, before segueing into the main break where metallic melodies and effervescent rides unite, setting the course for a finale of rebounding rhythms and surreal sonic aesthetics.

The third and final selection 'Blood Echo' further solidifies Mike's transcendent abilities. Possessing a dramatic undercurrent, the Argentine works hypnotizing structures over punchy kick drums and detailed percussion, creating waves of locomotive meditation. Its thrilling pulse has become a production hallmark for Mike, one where inventive drum patterns, mesmerizing rhythms and quixotic effects carry the storyboard onwards to a thunderous dance floor awakening. A fitting conclusion to a fresh three-track odyssey, one where Mike carefully balances technique and musicality, thus continuing his tenure as one of Argentina's most beloved progressive house producers.

Clubsonica Records opens the spring season by unveiling the third edition of their Sampler Series. The Colombian imprint's popular MMW and ADE Various Artists releases have become an annual highlight for progressive music aficionados. Operating under a similar ethos, Clubsonica's Sampler Series made its debut in 2021 to resounding praise from fans and tastemakers alike, with an equally impressive follow-up landing in December of last year. Limited to five select tracks per release, the label has showcased music from trending newcomers like KAZKO and Ric Niels alongside long-standing veterans such as Kamilo Sanclemente and Solid Sessions. Now, presenting the much anticipated third edition of the series, Clubsonica features new music from (in order of appearance) Andre Moret, ARCADIA, Golan Zocher and Greenage, Hyunji-A and Julieta Kühnle.

The collection's third selection and lone collaboration finds Golan Zocher and Greenage combining their extensive forces on 'Mind Control'. Based in Israel and India respectively, both Golan and Greenage have achieved remarkable success across their solo careers. The duo's collective discography is highlighted by releases via Or Two Strangers, Proton Music, Sudbeat and Tale and Tone, while Hernan Cattaneo, Lee Burridge and Nick Warren have been steadfast supporters. Having worked together previously on 'Lost Man', a track which highlighted Sudbeat's recent 'Showcrates' collection, Golan and Greenage masterfully synthesize their talents once again for Clubsoncia with 'Mind Control'. Replete with evolving, emotional and hypnotizing structures, the duo allows the listener to relish in its electric groove, building anticipation towards an apex of fragmented vocals, soaring riffs and elasticated synth swagger.

Joining the Meanwhile Horizons roster with a standout 3-track EP, HAFT make their Meanwhile Horizons debut with “Flow / Momentum / Rosewood”.

Inspired by “percussion, deep-rooted and hypnotising synths”, HAFT’s aim is to “put all these elements together to create a unique sound utilising various organic melodies.” Through their innovative production work, the US-based duo have hit the underground dance music headlines since late 2017 with a series of stellar Organic and Progressive House releases – sprinkled with a dusting of Electronica – on such esteemed imprints as Do Not Sit On The Furniture, Pipe & Pochet and Armen Miran’s Hoomidaas.

Making an appearance on GMJ & Matter’s flagship label with “Life in Motion” on the “Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 4” compilation in September 2024, HAFT now take their Meanwhile Horizons bow. Opening proceedings, “Flow” builds on the percussive flow and bassline energy so pivotal to the duo’s sound. Replete with fizzing hats, whip-cracking kick and rolling groove, an array of effects and sounds add to the aural intrigue before smooth pads and filtered arpeggio create layers of melodic majesty. Coming to the fore at a stripped-back breakdown in a club-friendly pause for breath, the track picks up the pace in the second half as the rhythmic and melodic collage combine to devastating effect.

The aptly titled, “Momentum” creates an exquisite music odyssey as a gradually evolving rhythmic landscape adds layer upon layer of sound creating a rich sonic playground by its denouement. Ticking hats and rolling bass pattern then vie for attention with thickly textured pads and plucked melodies that filter in and out of sonic range. Waxing and waning through its different phases, the track finds a stereo-panned motif taking centre stage in the final act to create a work of stunning dancefloor prowess.

The final track sees the mellifluous tones of “Rosewood” quickly creating a subtle melancholic atmosphere. A subterranean bass adds heft and gravitas as an immaculately syncopated synth phrase creates groove aplenty in the second movement. Rippling arps and counterpoint pads add to the aural depth, as does a perfectly placed vocal motif at the breakdown. Hitting club-friendly heights once more in the latter stages, HAFT’s production skills are on full display as “Rosewood” reaches a smooth and blissful conclusion.

Characterising a unique and powerful sound that transcends the progressive house genre, HAFT have shown why they are such respected figures with their “Flow / Momentum / Rosewood” EP.

Originally part of their April 2018 Particles EP, Dimuth K, A-Jay and Shannon Davin brought together their combined talents from the island nation of Sri Lanka to produce a twin-track release of impressive proportions. Now, Yin and Yang reprise one of those tracks, as "Horus" receives new remixes from Argentinean and fellow Sri Lankan stars.

Operating out his Colombo home, Subandrio Sinhawansa has forged a strong and carefully constructed career path that has seen him become "Middle East DJ of the Year" on multiple occasions through his ability to "paint a masterpiece every night with energy and synergy." Contemporaneously pursuing a production career, the Sri Lankan star has found his work allied to an array of major underground labels that include Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital, Matan Caspi and Stan Kolev's Outta Limits and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat. With over a double century of production credits to his name, Subandrio returns to Yin after May 2016's remix of Nicholas Van Orton, taking a typically intelligent approach to his remix of "Horus."

Given percussive urgency through 16th note hi-hat pattern and immaculately placed woodblock, a grooved bassline and heavy beat builds energy while sumptuously textured pads gently reveal themselves. Retaining the essence of the original, a glorious arpeggio opens up in the breakdown before rhythm and bass hold court once more in the third movement to dramatic effect.
