'Through a unique blend of rhythm and melody, Izzet has continued to carve out a name for himself since a 2014 debut for NewBorn Records and subsequent work for Liquid Grooves and Clinique Recordings. A debut for the "Winter Particles 2018" compilation began a series of impressive releases for the label, most notably in 2019's "Summer Goodbye" EP. Remixes for Pole Folder and E.F.G. have continued to showcase the Russian artist's production skills as he now returns with the twin-track, "Abstract Distortion" EP. The title track immediately impresses with its pounding beat and rolling groove while an emotive chord progression drifts across the mid-range with ease. A counterpoint motif then lilts enticingly atop with reverse-layered synth passages and subtly distorted effects providing a sprinkling of stardust. A strong bass groove adds to the classy feel as it opens up in the third movement to create a triumphant return to Particles. Partner track "Farsi" continues the narrative of heavy beat, while a stunning, head-shaking groove paves the way for a dominant bassline to play its part in menacing fashion. Building in relentless fashion, smooth pads hypnotise while barely-heard, subtle melodic touches add to the gloriously oppressive vibe.

Rising out of the Florida club scene with 25 years experience, Mariner + Domingo joined forces in late 2019 to establish a production partnership that hasn't looked back. Quickly establishing themselves as forces to be reckoned with throughout the underground dance fraternity, their music for the likes of Sound Avenue, Balkan Connection and The Purr has found the duo creating a name for themselves that is set to grow. Making their Particles debut, the duo's remix of "Abstract Distortion" is characterised by a rippling percussive groove that drives through the near 9-minute offering. Evolving delicately through bell-toned arpeggio and smooth bassline progression, echoes of Izzet's melodic prowess is in evidence as Mariner + Domingo display their own production prowess in a plethora of new production material that give their remix impressive new purpose and direction, lighting up the track post-breakdown.'

The tumultuous and trying year for music all but behind us, Culprit looks forward into a hopeful future with the first release of 2021. It also marks a milestone for the Los Angeles label – their 100th release. Who better to usher the new era than the two immense and unique talents synonymous with Culprit of the last few years – Lorenzo Dada and Clarian.

At the controls is Rome-based and California-inspired Lorenzo Dada. His fifth Culprit release continues to chart his artistic – and personal – growth. Always a producer of skill and musicality, Lorenzo here expands the range with guitar and saxophone joining beloved keyboards/piano. “Very Personal” might be further from a club dancefloor than Lorenzo’s other label releases, but depth of the ideas and confident execution are of the highest order. The resulting blend of Indie and slow burn Techno is the sound of the producer coming into his own.

Clarian adds the inimitable sonic stamp to “Very Personal.” His love of the cinematic, New Wave-inspired Electronica shows through in the shimmering track. It’s arguably the most organic combination of an original and a rework Culprit has ever put out.

Alex's Meanwhile remixes of GMJ & Matter’s 'Gauntlet' were a notable highlight alongside a stellar 2020 and now with his inimitable style and flair, his remix of 'The Path' builds on the deep undulating groove of the original while building a new bassline component that bristles with intent, emotion and dancefloor prowess. Using the central arpeggiated motif of the track, richly textured pads provide new melodic direction as white-noise washes crash against the rhythmic bedrock in pulsating waves. The resultant interpretation finds O’Rion at his consummate best with a flawless mix of technique and precision.

Hailing from a long line of talented Dutch producers, Alex O’Rion is one of the brightest stars to recently emerge on Hernan Cattaneo’s SUDBEAT label. He started to experiment with music at 14 yrs old, inspired by Sasha, Nick Warren and John Digweed. Although his first appearance was in the trance scene, Alex soon found out that deep progressive music was his passion.

With 150 releases on beatport on labels such as Sudbeat, Hope, and Cid Inc's Replug, he has seen support from Hernán Cattáneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Guy Mantzur, and Quivver, amongst many others.

2019 saw him playing for Sudbeat’s Showcase in Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek plus notable appearances at Nature One Festival in Germany, Ministry Of Sound in London and Es Paradis in Ibiza.

- GMJ & Matter - 
Melbourne’s GMJ (Gavin Martin) and Matter (Matty Doyle) joined forces in late 2015, a triggered recognition and magnetism for their shared perspectives and love for deep atmospheric music leading to the formation of the GMJ & Matter collaboration. With an acclaimed 'Superposition' EP for Proton followed by Osmosis / 11 Moons & Interscrope EPs in 2018, the two have produced remixes for Pete K, Andre Sobota, Juan Deminicis, Nopi, Donny Carr, DJ San & Rudy UK, & fellow Aussies Funkform, Pantheon and David Leckenby. 

2019 raised the bar higher as the duo joined forces with Funkform for a highly anticipated debut EP for the esteemed Balance Music. With supporting gigs for Nick Warren and Dezza + a live performance for Wildwood events, they embarked on their European tour in 2019, with gigs for Progressive Astronaut and Replug Records at ADE.

2020 has seen the conception and constant growth of the pairs Meanwhile Recordings imprint, which has opened to high regard throughout the industry, both as a platform for their own signature sounds, and as a home to some of the world’s finest. With many great releases on the horizon, Meanwhile is already on the way to establishing itself as a premier force in the world of global deep progressive house.

Release Info: 
Rising out of Montreal’s prospering nightlife are Hicky & Kalo. Both born and raised in Canada, this DJ/production duo have been dictating the sounds of the city’s underground over the last half decade. Although regulars throughout Quebec’s much lauded club circuit, it is the world-renowned Stereo Nightclub which has served as the home base for Hicky & Kalo’s impeccable taste and exquisite programming skills. Also accomplished producers, the duo’s deep melodic sounds have found a home on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, When We Dip’s XYZ and their own Plaisirs Sonores imprint. Now as 2021 begins for Hicky & Kalo, the duo further their foothold within the progressive underground, debuting on Cid Inc’s Replug Records with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Eye Of Truth’. 

Beginning with the deep and fluid grooves of the title selection, Hicky & Kalo marry liquid-like arps with textural swells and glowing atmospheres. Evolving percussive arrangements and sweeping effects add nicely to its mediative drawl, before shifting energy into a captivating break. Transcendent in nature, the centrepiece delights with shimmering arrays and gentle percussive splashes, perfectly complementing the emerging arps as the groove drops for a soothing finale. 

The companion piece ‘Route To North’ is equally brilliant with it’s pacier groove and similar hypnotic disposition. Building in waves, a muscular bassline rumbles, pushing rhythmic flow forward, while striking stabs and a chorus of harmonics adds colour and depth. A beefed-up percussion section brings further cadence as the narrative evolves, eventually melting down into a placid break. Cinematic drifts and aquatic effects highlight the iridescent centrepiece, creating a sense of calm across it’s one-minute running time, before eventually giving way to the charged groove for an electric finale.

With ‘Eye Of Truth’ Hicky & Kalo have added another important release to their resume, one which sets the stage for the duo to have a breakout year.
