Budakid’s ‘Milestones’ gets the remix treatment from three very hot names, with very different results.

Korean hotshot Shubostar has featured on Resident Advisor’s mix series, played leading festivals like Burning Man and released on killer imprints like Robert Johnson, Permanent Vacation, Internasjnoal and her acclaimed Uju Records. Her colorful update on cosmic disco fits perfectly with the charms of Budakid’s style, with a bouncing off-beat bass line driving under heavily reverbed kicks and snares and a flurry of ascending arpeggios. The synths soar, the breakdown takes us into an epic space, and the remix develops beautifully over the course of its 8 minutes to keep you hooked throughout.

London duo Make A Dance are rapidly on the ascent, with a huge release on Classic Music Company and killer cuts on their M.A.D. Records imprint as well as sets at the likes of fabric and Club Silencio. Their rework goes deeper, building through gated snips of the vocal, pulsing pads, Latin snare patterns and subtle bleep riffs and delays to reach a heady, hypnotic place. The ethereal breakdown full of tripped out tape delays and great use of airy vocal harmonies are the icing on the cake, making their remix feel like the original as experienced in a joyous dream. Oh, and prolific guys that they are, they’ve also included a ‘Deep Acid’ mix which... I think you can figure it out?

Rising Dutch talent Milio (Atomnation and formerly one part of Tunnelvisions) rounds off the package by stripping things back to a deep, tripped-out pulse, modulating twanging acid belches in conversation with an off-beat bass bounce. The vocal is used in super-dreamy fashion—particularly in the breakdown—and slick production on that acid line and clever automation keeps it engaging despite this remix’s pared-back approach.

'Jacob Groening's record label, Kamai Music, drops a new organic house EP from K2W0 which also features remixes by SAQIB, Lost Boy and Jacob Groening.

K2W0 is an emerging talent from London, UK who has been turning heads with exquisite releases on Magician On Duty, MONADA, KataHaifisch and Talpa Records. His style blends poignant melodies with trippy atmosphere and flowing percussion. He is a well-travelled DJ and producer whose music takes influence from the different cultures he has experienced.

SAQIB is an American artist from Brooklyn who has a stripped-back and techy sound with immersive atmosphere. He has featured his downtempo style on labels ranging from Sabo's Sol Selectas to BLOND:ISH's Abracadabra Music.

Lost Boy is a Canadian artist whose sound fuses dreamscape melodies and lush organic sounds with shuffling percussion rhythms to create downtempo house with uplifting atmosphere. His music takes influence from his Asian heritage and he has featured on record labels such as Bar 25, Kosa and Sol Selectas.

Jacob Groening is an internationally respected artist from Germany who regularly travels the world as a headline DJ. His eclectic sound ranges from downtempo electronic to melodic house and everything in between. He is also a talented producer who along with releasing via his own Kamai Music has also worked with Earthly Delights, The Gardens of Babylon, Cosmic Awakenings and 3000 Grad Records.

"Aint No Sunshine" is a jazz-inspired track which fuses a sensual saxophone sample with soulful vocals washed in psychedelic effects. Built upon an acid bassline and framework of upbeat percussion, it's a forward-thinking piece of dance floor orientated music with timeless elements.

SAQIB's indie dance remix of Aint No Sunshine adds a chunky new bassline and dramatic snare hits. Removing the saxophone, it focuses on the original's vocals and a sparkling new melody synth.

Jacob Groening's remix of Aint No Sunshine is a restructured version of the original with a stripped-back sound that removes the saxophone, which unfolds with a purposeful precision that transforms the track into a streamlined version that's perfect for DJ use.

"Sometimes" has chopped-up guitar chords that fade in and out to create a lo-fi groove that's accompanied by a fluttering saxophone, poignant piano chords and bluesy vocal phrases. The sequenced percussion creates a solid foundation that ties the parts together while filling the track with forward momentum.

Lost Boy's remix of Sometimes is a refined version that pushes back the original's guitar to create a deep atmosphere where the vocals have space to take centre stage. It's a stripped-back version with the addition of an uplifting synth melody that's introduced in the second half of this light and breezy remake.'

Back in February, My Favorite Robot released an excellent full length album from accomplished DJ and producer Andrew Grant in his Naome guise. It proved a treasure trove of hits for dancers and DJs alike, and now the Canadian label revisit it for some expertly enlisted remixes. Speaking Minds, System of Survival, Nitin and Daniel Kyo all step up and breath plenty of their own unique character into the still stunning source material. Speaking Minds is the union of Simone Sinatti and Marco Paladin, an Italian pair that has released on this label before now. Their version of 'Kosmatic' is a slow burning, spiritually arresting track that is epic in the most reserved of ways. With slithering synth lines and reflective chords it lulls you into a trance and sooth your mind with its lush sense of musicality. System of Survival is another Italian pair, this time made up of Alex Carpentieri and Pietro De Lisi. They are veterans of labels like Get Physical and BPitch Control and their remix of Great Escape feat. Ony is a groovy, organic affair with warm chords, romantic vibes and loose limbed precision in its bones. Whispered vocals add a steamy sexiness and it's a standout track as a result. And so to Nitin, a key member of the MFR family and a revered talent who also lights up his No 19 Music label which he co-owns with Art Department's Jonny White. His revision of 'Wherewe' feat. Nanni is a lumpy and bumpy deep house roller with smeared chords, a sense of late night laziness to it and a wealth of human chords that strike right at your heart. It's magical and memorable in equal measure. Last but not least, Spaniard Daniel Kyo has emerged as a fine modern day beat maker thanks to outings on Poker Flat and Sincopat, as well as for his charismatic DJ sets along side the likes of Carl Craig and Larry Heard as resident at Minicab in his native Valencia. He has also headlined places like Panorama Bar in Berlin so is very much an ascending 2015 star. He tackles 'Spacestation' feat. Symbol and flips it into a gurgling, slow mo, no wave disco track with ticking arps, sticky drums and dreamy, drifting vocals that are sure to soundtrack many a great summer party. This is a fantastic package that not only reminds us how great the originals were, but that also proves MFR has its finger on the pulse when it comes to talented remixes from around the world.

Marshall White embarked on his musical journey more than 2 decades ago as a rock guitarist. As if his parents did not have enough headaches due to the overdriven amp, he also started playing the bass and the drums and got down to recording his first demos on a 4-track cassette recorder.

Having been a member in several bands gave him the opportunity to explore and draw inspiration from an extensive palette of musical styles, ranging from metal to funk, and from salsa to rock and, at the same time, granted him extensive opportunities to hang out with some of the craziest creatures to walk the face of the planet.
