Damon Jee's Dust & Blood welcomes the Spanish maestro AFFKT with an energetic and dynamic EP called "Corcho" that packs a punch. The EP also includes 2 original tracks and a fantastic remix by the guys in charge of our previous release, the French master minds Kimshies.
Marc Martinez Nadal, aka AFFKT, consecrated a music career and has been a driving force behind a vivid and empowering sound that is refined by his drive for perfection. He feels in deeply in communion with sounds that range from the most energetic hyper-glossy techno to the most detailed and innovative indie-electronica. Having worked on coining the sound of this alias since 2008, it has been a plethora of sounds, places, persons and cultures that has provided a platform for AFFKT to experiment with his output. He serves huge electronic crossover masterpieces that derive into the many sub-genres of music via key imprints such as Pets Recordings, Multinotes, Mobilee, Last Night On Earth, Disco Halal, Needwant, Exploited or Culprit and his very own Sincopat label. He expresses versatility digging deep into his influences of sounds by delivering heart-stopping, engaging techno on the likes of Octopus, Noir Music, Suara...

"Corcho" is a strong incantation of the artist's early influences in electronic music. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, with so much dynamic range that it keeps the listeners on their toes from beginning to end. The track lets us travel to the dancefloor with intense sound design to create a high-energy. Overall, it's an impressive piece of work that shows AFFKT's range and skills.

Meanwhile, "Spider Charmer" is a crossover track that blends different styles and influences to create something truly unique. It's a futuristic piece of music that feels both fresh and timeless, and it's sure to leave listeners speechless. The main organic lead bass is hypnotizing, drawing the listeners in and holding their attention throughout the entire track. Let’s rave or die!

And last but not least, the duo Kimshies, who is a regular of the Dust & Blood family, closes this chapter with an epic remix of "Corcho", another standout track, an inimitable interpretation of the original that creates a deep and memorable musical experience and takes the listeners on a sonic adventure. This rhythmic is a real tribute to electroclash, that will for sure stir things up.

Kate Stein’s latest cerebral indie-dance masterpiece, the Mentalphysics EP is released on Rotten City Records (17th November Beatport exclusive, and 1st December all other platforms) Kate’s ethos of self-expression and dance floor liberation leads dancers through captivating soundscapes on two original cuts and a bumper selection of reworks.

The title track, Mentalphysics, is intricate indie for dancefloor diehards. Kate Stein pulls you into her sonic web with pure auroral energy. Pulsating arpeggiated rhythms combine with pumping beats and a symphony of rousing effects and triggers, sweeping you away on a glimmering voyage, soaring gloriously through metaspace. 

Next, German powerhouse duo New Hook serve you an unforgettable, desire driven remix of Mentalphysics. Their distinctive vocal elements, take you to the brink of engulfing emotion, entrapping you in their own dangerous yet sensual cold wave universe.

Elfenberg then delivers you a driving, acid-fueled remix of Mentalphysics. Ramping up the tempo, the potency of the beats working in conjunction with a raucous low end. His driving acid line shrouds the original with his well-loved groovy aesthetic. 

Looking for Vegus starts with a throbbing, undulating low and moody end. Crisp claps and shakers lead you by the hand across the River Styx into a wrenching melancholic environment. Underworldly undertones drag you further in, before bright, beautifully blended stabs drag you back into the sunlight.

Niv Ast reworks Looking for Vegus, energetically embarking into nostalgic and uplifting territory, adding his own stirring vocal. Guitar samples are complemented by heavy layers of driving percussion, providing joyful yet soulful and emotive melody.

Melómana opens the year with a compilation that brings together producers who have marked and defined the musical orientation of the label. Its reference 039 is not only a testimony of long-term work, it is also the announcement of what is to come this year 2024.

The compilation brings together songs by artists such as Panka Panka, Azaria, Yahaira, JGR, Jackwasfaster, Ludviq, Nick Hanzo, Macaulay, Mijo, Pastor in Vegas, Rubinskee, Ademarr, Joseeph. Established talents on the scene, as well as emerging projects, offering an approach as designed for the track as it is for home listening. Altogether, we find fused rhythms and rich soundscapes that lead us to an exploration as fluid as it is captivating. The album offers us a dynamic contrast that shows the versatility of a timeless project, created from talent, meticulousness and sonic coherence.The level of production of these guys is intense but, on the other hand, the care of the sounds they release is at the level of those who do things because they want and with the time they really need. The tracks have strength and jump over the prevailing conventions, knowing how to avoid the most recurrent rawness and darkness, seeking dance but without predictable tricks and without exceeding an understandable level of experimentation suitable for the dance floor.

We could say that each producer summarizes their intentions in this compilation, seeking novelty without losing nostalgia, that they play with the genre but without falling into predictable tricks, nor into the arrogance of those who get wrapped up in a genre or mannerism to demonstrate that They have personality. And this is just the beginning, because this year Melómana is going to bring us many surprises.
