When we first heard the tracks by Niju and Malü, our thoughts wandered straight to the beautiful time of the festival season. With their light-footedness and the still pressing bass, they are perfect for making the crowd shake at sunrise in the forest on a Monday morning.

To round off the matter properly, our musical heroes from the very beginning Ninze and Kleintierschaukel with Chrischou contributed a crisp remix.

Soul Records is very excited to announce that over the course of the past couple months they've been working on a Various Artist compilation for Souq Records, named “A Mirror for the Sun”. The official release date is August 31st.

The compilation is a departure from the label's signature sound and overall style. Niki Sadeki: "I was honored when they told me they wanted me to be in charge of this very interesting project. I'm very fortunate to have amazing artists and producers in my circle. So I got in touch with a couple and discussed the vision for the project - the level of enthusiasm I received was extremely encouraging."

Mirror for the Sun is a 14-track cycle of tempos, moods, and hums exploring different facets of a softly solar energy. The compilation departs from the Souq’s signature sound, infusing it with a rotation of new elements. @nikisadeki’s curation brings more of an uncanny Berlin-style voltage to the label’s earthy tradition, shaped by her own learned perception of deep house. The result is a cosmic and crunchy experimental blend, with mingling moments of downbeat drama and upbeat glow.

Geju - French Press [Souq]

It’s happening! AFTER ALL - who would have thought. The German producer duo „Überhaupt & Außerdem“ release their EP on the 10th of October under the extraordinary label, Baikal Nomads.

Überhaupt & Außerdem, Philipp and Andreas, children of the German reunification, born on different sides of the Berlin Wall. Twins - 50% east, 50% west. They initially bumped heads in the city of Tübingen as band members and promoters in the creative scene. Soon, they joined their longtime shared passion for electronic music and DJing, which quickly morphed into first independent productions.

Their style has since developed by plunging deeper into production techniques, contemplating the essence of musicality through external critique and constructive feedback - so far by renowned Artists as Solee, Dominik Eulberg and Björn Torwellen, amongst others. During the time of lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic they fully immersed into their creative work. The fruits of this time are now presented on the „After All“ EP which features the Canadian guitar prodigy Calum Graham and in addition comes with remixes by Deisen, Guy Maayan and Juliano Gomez.

Their sound might be perceived as downtempo with substantial attention to detail and complexity. It is sustained by an emotional touching spectrum of fluffy warmth to gloomy drive that never lacks attitude.

Later this year, you can expect more remixes, releases and podcasts among other content through Akasha MX and Katahaifisch.
