‘DYR’ is a beautiful, delicate, unhurried gem of a track, dripping in sensuality. Shimmering percussion and delayed claps lay a foundation atop sorrowful sustained organ-esque pads. Subtle bass throbs sorrowfully in tandem with the yearning, melancholic chord progression. Deft stabs and flutters of heavenly melody flicker across the stereo field, while sweet electronic piano motifs tug at the heart strings. Deceptively powerful, this is a truly glorious moment in time, topped off by emotive vocal samples used sparingly but potently.
‘Purple Brain’ is an entirely different but equally delightful kettle of proverbial fish. Tumbling soul breakbeats echo tightly while dubby keys and vocal cuts tickle the surface of the track. Jazzy organ thrusts punctuate the groove as bass rumbles deep beneath. Reminiscent of classic late nineties / early naughties downtempo grooves a la Kid Loco, Aim et al, it’s a light and dreamy piece of work that hypnotises you into a state of willing submission.

The latest release from Sum Over Histories comes from a new project by label head Frank Beckers and his partner Birgit and coincides with their 20 year anniversary.

Tension, the first EP from Flageolet, is a 4-track experimental project that combines field recordings and soundscapes with keys, bass, harmonies and percussion. The result is emotive, provoking electronica.

“Chose” is a slow-beat production that combines vocals, rattles and synths to create an ominous and futuristic sound. “We didn’t want to have a clear message by using full sentences,” Frankey says. “The words are opposite pairs and related to us, but everybody can interpret them as they feel.”

PREMIERE: Flageolet - Chose

Baham aim to express their own memories, stories and history in the rhythms of their electronic dance music. They meld the old and the new into mystical expressions steeped in culture and built on enchanting beats. They showcase that here on a brilliantly tender new groove that is rich in cultural references.

'Mara Beboos (Golnaraghi)' is a seductive six-minute track with languid bass and rolling kicks that sink you into a state of deep hypnosis from the off. The playful melodies bring a sense of charm before falling away to reveal some exotic vocal chants all the way from the Middle East. It all adds up to a hugely characterful cut.

Philipp Jung is the Get Physical Music and Kindisch A&R and a legendary German DJ and producer who toured the world and co-wrote many dance music hits as one half of M.A.N.D.Y. He flips the original into a more club-ready house cut with bouncing drums, hooky percussive sounds and curious melodies that lead you even further down the rabbit hole into a world of late-night whimsy.

These are two unique new house grooves from Kindisch.

'Brussels group Nervian Society come in hot with their new five-track EP: a glorious celebration of their love of dance music that takes in electro, Italo-disco and house.  

Nervian Society are a new, Brussels-based act mining the glittering electro and disco depths for nuggets of pure sonic gold. In a previous life, their members founded the Spector Studio in Brussels where they record, produce music and collaborate with many artists of the Brussels’ scene, including Flemish French speaking Pop band Que La Suite Soit Douce, electro-prose duet The Cultural Studies (a favourite of 6 Music's Tom Robinson) and Punk-Hardcore act Instructor. 
 
Nervian Society is D&D’s project surrounded by talented guests. The first D is the composer, producer and sound engineer, who has worked with some renown artists (TTC, Dj Cam, JC de Castelbajac, Holden, Instructor, JL Aubert, Que La Suite Soit Douce, for example) while the other D crafts the unique electronic tools they use for their production. The project is devoted to their dance music passion: disco and electro with accents of house music for good measure. On stage, they perform a hybrid live DJ Set; a wall of sound made of loops, effects, mashups, modular synths and live vocals. 
 
Their debut single was Club D – released back in 2021 as an homage to the Brussels parties they ran of the same name. Now they’re coming in hot with their debut EP,  Ducpétiauxlaan, an infectious, dizzying five track release that explores various shades of electronic music. 
 
‘Elegant Ride On’ is a naïve and mystical track with a music-video made from Spector Studio’s courtyard surveillance camera showing men at work in a surreal atmosphere.

‘In Love With A Movie Star’ is a retro electro-pop song featuring Flavia Clementi on vocals. The song is accompanied by a video that shows her - with the D of D&D that produces the music - recording in the studio, alongside a fake group comprised of the cream of Brussels hardcore punk.

‘Mainloft’ and ‘Lie To You’ are electro-dance tracks with Mien Heyvaert on lead vocals. Finally, ‘She Was A Summer Day’ is gleaming Italo-disco, created when the group were performing with a live set-up built around the old-school original Akai MPC-60.'
