The first taste of Bath based singer-songwriter Jody Prewett's soon to be released new album, 'River Songs', the song 'Ghostland' takes inspiration from the afterlife, Tim Burton and the American mid-west. Having spent the last few months recording songs on the banks of the Avon and impressing audiences around Somerset, Wiltshire and London with his inventive blend of Elliott Smith, Lindsey Buckingham and James Taylor, Jody is carving out an individual and enigmatic space in the crowded  singer-songwriter field. 
The song is due for release on 29th May.

Ghostland

Calm Before the Storm - Demo

Led Zeppelin is well known for taking traditional Southern Blues songs and turning them into giant glamrock spectacles.  Here I reverse the process.   But the result owes much more to Jimmy Page's guitar riffs than to Blind Wille Johnson, whose original version of the song bears little resemblance to this version or the Zeppelin version.  Also, in the lyrics, I replaced Jesus with Osiris as the receiver of souls.
