The Modernist

"Other" or "Others" sonopoetry recordings given to me by Ilaria Boffa towards creation of a piece that ultimately issued as Arpeggios of Silence. On this and the last rainy day I reviewed and recombined acousmatic sources with new materials arriving at this new arrangement. I didn't remix so much as dance with the sounds or juggle them lightly into a new configuration.

The Assignment: What does a moment (or a day) in the life of a jellyfish sound like to a jellyfish?

I hate to be lazy and use something I was working on instead of something new sparked by the actual challenge, but sometimes time is our tyrant and I was fascinated by this forgotten masters, some live-in-the-studio improvisations with awesome French drummer André Charlier that I discovered some days ago.
Captured while we were warming up for a recording session years ago. This was on tape but never used nor listened to, and I've been taking some nice bits out of it for further use. These are all ad-lib, abstract and weird soundscapes, no groovy bass 'n drums at all.
This is an abstract, floating groove-less & creepy track.

And I think it fits the challenge perfectly cause, o be honest:

- Invertebrate folks listen to beat-less music, I'm pretty sure. 
- Jelly fish are creepy little  beings.

I don't know why, but I can't help to think that a moment in the live of a jellyfish would sound to the jellyfish like a Buchla under water.

This one (as the track I posted just yesterday [here](https://soundcloud.com/daniel-diaz/vidala-del-grand-canyon)) are part of a series of documentary music from 2006-2007 that  I got the rights back.

Now I'm in the process of re-thinking, remixing and recycling, giving a new life to these forgotten instrumentals.

Yesterday track was "Jujuy meet Arizona", this one is pure LA PUNA, an average 3500 meters height desert/plateau where this kind of simple, powerful folk melodies resonate from the distance.

In some words:
Composer, arranger, producer, multi-instrumentalist. Born in Argentina,
I studied music in Buenos Aires, New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Paris.

For 20 years, I developed an important career as a session and backing musician in Argentina and Europe, playing, among other instruments, the bass, touring and recording with many jazz, rock, fusion, world, Latin and tango bands.

At the same time, I worked as an arranger, producer and musical director with many projects and artists in the USA, Argentina and Europe.

From 1992 to 1997, I performed my compositions live with my own band in Buenos Aires and began a solo recording career with the worldwide release of my first album "The Years Alone" on the North American label Green Linnet/Xenophile. On this album I arranged and performed 11 of my songs written between 1986 and 1993. I played most of the instruments, but included guest appearances by some great South American players.

My recording career continued with "Segundo Ciclo" (1997), released worldwide by Timeless Records, and 12 more albums released between 2000 and 2016.

Currently, I work as an on-demand film/TV composer while continuing to play live and produce.
