♫ Weihnachten, was für eine Zeit!
Seit gut zwei Jahren segelt euer Käpt’n nun schon über die Meere und präsentiert euch mit dem »Seasidetrip« Geschichten rund um Strand, Wellen, Meerjungfrauen, Beachparties und die Sehnsucht nach dem Meer. Viele (musikalische) Geschichten wurden erzählt, unzählige Meter an Seemannsgarn gesponnen und viel zu wenige Rumfässer geleert. Die Musik und die Liebe dazu, sie hat uns alle zusammengebracht und lässt uns nah sein. Weihnachten, da wird auch eurem Käpt’n Rolandson anders und er starrt auf das Wasser und hängt seinen Gedanken nach. Wir haben uns in Skandinavien, in einem Fjord von Norwegen, ein Winterquartier gesucht. Die Landschaft, die besondere Atmosphäre hier, sie lassen Gedanken, Gefühle und Musik miteinander verfließen und eins werden. Der Wind weht über das Deck, kalt und klar, wie der blaue Himmel und es gibt warmen Grog. Auf den Reisen der letzten Monate kreuzten immer wieder zwei Junge Matrosen den Weg, mal war es deren »Seaman’s Love« Mix oder der extravagante »Deep October Mix« bei unserer Freundin Prya von Getting Deeper, welche exakt die Stimmung vom Käpt’n einfingen und beschrieben. So kam es, dass sie gemeinsam los schipperten und eine Seasidetrip WATERKANT SCHWOF Party bespielten - daraus ist eine wachsende Freundschaft entstanden, welche hoffentlich anhält und noch weitere wunderbare Früchte tragen wird. Die Rede ist von dem Duo Ninze & Okaxy, vom Reich Und Schön Kollektiv / Lush Life aus Leipzig. Ihr musikalisches Talent und ihre Liebe zu den deepen, langsameren Sounds haben 2014 bereits viele aufhorchen lassen und in Verzückung versetzt. In eurem Käpt’n reift über die letzten zwei Monate der Wunsch, mit genau den Beiden das X-Mas Special für 2014 zu präsentieren. Ein wenig Glück, viel Liebe und die IO - Afterhour, am 13.12.2014 in Leipzig, sollten den Wunsch möglich werden lassen. Dort spielten sie ein 3-stündiges Set, welches sie aufnahmen und nun exklusiv beim Seasidetrip veröffentlichen. Oh Freude schöner Götterfunken, Tochter aus … und so weiter, ja, wir betreten Feuertrunken, das Heiligtum .. die entschleunigte Tanzfläche, auf der Raum-Zeit-Achse.

Q: You´re currently in Mexico. The best place to escape from the cold winter?

A: I am very thankful that I can travel around the world with my music. Last year was the first time for me here and I really enjoyed it. So wonderful to meet a lot of friends here spending time with them in the sun and celebrating the new year together. It is the perfect place to escape the long gray phase in Berlin.

Q: Talking about your mix – what did these tracks mean to you in the past?

A: It was not easy to decide wich track will finally be part of the mix cause there are so many I was listening to while I grew up. But those I put in the mix are defenitely the ones meaning a lot to me.

Q: What´s coming up next? Are there any tour or release plans?

A: I will have my every year Australia/New Zealand tour in feb/march and the next release on our new label OUÏE is coming end of march. It´s the new Acid Pauli Album.

Unsere Reise geht diesmal hoch in den Norden besser gesagt nach Skandinavien. Dort wo die Polarlichter gefühlt einen "Lichtertanz" aufführen und funkeln, dort kommt Dan Palmer her.  Dan kommt um es genau zusagen aus Östersund / Schweden wohnt aber nun in Oslo. Er fühlt sich dort sichtlich wohl da er dort einen kleines Label betreibt. Dan beschreibt seinen Musikstil so:

Meine Musik würde ich als elektronischen experimentellen Downtempo mit einem Hauch von Hip-Hop / Dub / Reagge / RnB / Soul / Techno / House / Jazz / Rock / Drum N Bass bezeichnen.

Souq Five by San Miguel

For our first cocktail of the year we welcome Rolandson to the Schirmchendrink bartender team. Rolandson, a traveler through the sounds of this world, masters the art of storytelling like no other.  
He explored the depths of 90s Berlin dub & techno, the electro swing revival in Paris/ France and Brighton/ England as well as the downtempo and indigenous sounds of this world. And all of his experiences are reflected in his music. 

Today, Rolandson mainly travels on the sea: as captain of Seasidetrip, an outstanding podcast and netlabel, he chose the only possible drink for a real captain – a gin, what else? The combination with sourish slices of rhubarb is excellent to survive storms and heavy sea. But its also a perfect drink to enjoy on deck while the ship is slicing through calm waters. And this is exactly what we are going to do now! 

Let’s take it one gear down for our first mix in 2017 and put our glasses up to Rolandson’s Rhubarb Gin Fizz!

Saul Sánchez(@saul-rocha-sanchez), born and raised in Guanajuato, México, has been living for the past 5 years in Oslo, Norway. Through years of constant work, he's had the opportunity of sharing his perspective amongst some of the most distinguished clubs in town. He is currently performing as a resident DJ in Karusell, one of the most praised clubs in Oslo.

Having spent most of his childhood in the mountain hills of the Mexican "bajío" with his indigenous ancestors brought big influence to his life. Prehispanic, folkloric, Latin-American, tribal and shamanic sounds conform an essential part of his musical exploration. This is for him, a way to keep his roots alive. In this 71th edition, with a meticulous selection process, Saul introduces a complex set, giving as result a multi-cultural sounds journey which appears to transport you to ancient rituals, always by the hand, naturally, of powerful and hypnotic basslines.
