At the beginning was the three-pointed star, 
One smile of light across the empty face, 
One bough of bone across the rooting air, 
The substance forked that marrowed the first sun, 
And, burning ciphers on the round of space, 
Heaven and hell mixed as they spun.

At the beginning

In the labyrinth of existence, where shadows dance and whispers echo, I sought what I was, but found only echoes of my own reflection.

The corridors twisted, like the tendrils of forgotten dreams, and I stumbled upon doorways unmarked. They beckoned me with secrets.

“Seek not what you are,” they murmured, “but what you’re not.” And so I stepped through, into realms where logic unraveled.

I chased moonbeams and starlight, hoping to grasp the intangible. But the more I reached, the further it slipped away.

Until one day, amidst the fractured mirrors, I glimpsed a silhouette. Not mine, but someone else’s.

Their eyes held galaxies, and their laughter spun constellations. They were what I wasn’t— a symphony of unfamiliar notes.

We danced on the edge of reason, lost in the paradox of seeking. For in the absence of self, we discovered infinity.

My latest offering. A cheeky little ambient number.  I wanted to do an extended piece as it has been a while since I last did. I centered the track around the cello and got to work with some atmospheric background sounds using standard hits and lots of reverb. Hope you like it. Please feel free to comment. Enjoy =]

This unique project fuses the retro synth heavy decade of the 80s with futuristic and breathtaking imagery, bringing past and future together in a Cyberpunk-esque package. With a huge span of influences ranging from metal, future garage, retrowave, prog, classical and various game and film soundtracks, their music embraces the sounds of electronica, but with textures and layers inspired by the whole musical spectrum.

On this atmospheric ambient album Ager Sonus takes us back in time as we join the Cult of Mithras. 

"The cinnamon scented scroll lies perfectly aligned on your silken bed sheet, the black seal of a lion's head catches your gasp as it stares you down. The test has begun! 

You stumble through the dark, your path a reflection of moonlight periodically piercing the clouds. Bare feet scrape rain soaked ground, the smell of wet earth and blood fills your exhausted breath. A faint glow signals you in the distance. Is this the beckoning you have been waiting for?" 

The Roman deity “Mithras” appears in historical records of the late 1st century A.D., and disappears from it in the late 4th century A.D. Unlike the major mythological figures of Graeco-Roman religion no ancient source preserves the mythology of the god. All the information is therefore derived from depictions on monuments, and the limited mentions of the cult in literary sources. 

The ancient cult of “Mithras” were especially popular among the Roman military who were intrigued by its mysteries. Worshippers of Mithras met in underground temples, now called “Mithraea”, which survived (to this day) in large numbers. The cult is rumored to have had its centre in Rome and was popular throughout the western half of the empire, as far south as Roman Africa and Numidia, as far north as Roman Britain and to a lesser extent in Roman Syria in the east. 

Mithraism is viewed as a rival of early Christianity. In the 4th century, Mithraists faced persecution from Roman Christians and the religion was subsequently suppressed and eliminated in the empire by the end of the century.

BIOGRAPHY:

Daniel Tompkins is an award winning and innovative British singer / songwriter from Nottinghamshire in The East Midlands. More widely recognised as the singer for TesseracT with his unique live performances and unmistakable dramatic soundscapes on the highly acclaimed albums ‘One’ and 'Polaris'. Since 2009 Daniel has established himself as a highly respected vocalist with a dedicated worldwide fan base. Arguably one of the busiest collaborative vocalists, Daniel’s voice has been celebrated as one of the best in modern progressive rock and metal.
 
Daniel has released a diverse catalogue of records to date and in doing so demonstrated a natural ability to marry his distinct voice to various genres and yet remain in mesmerising control of his audience. However, much more than a recording artist, he is an accomplished performer who has earned a host of awards and honours having toured the world, sharing the stage with artists such as Iron Maiden, Gojira, Lamb of God, Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, Senses Fail, Animals As Leaders, No Use For A Name, Periphery and Protest The Hero
