Come Rain Come

This is an attempt at process music, aiming to achieve what Glass calls the 'other mode of listening' through repetition and gradually evolving musical material. Here's an outline of the piece. The first 11 seconds declare the 5 bars of sample to be used (the sample here is from Bobby McFerrin and Richard Bona in Montreal). The 2nd bar of sample then repeats throughout, initially panned left. Following process then occurs:

a. 1st bar is panned to opposite side, repeated for 4 bars, then chopped to a 4/4 pattern and repeated for another 4 bars while panning of 1st and 2nd bars of sample swaps. 

b. same 8-bar process is then applied to 3rd, 4th and 5th bars of the sample. 

c. steps a-b form a cycle which repeats 8 times. The sample is repeated once after a delay in the final 7 cycles, and the delay time gets incrementally larger each cycle (starts 1/16th note, ends 1/2 note).

I considered keeping the process untouched, "pure", and not developing the music further. however, I ended up adding some additional instruments (shaker, bass, synthesiser) and effects (reverb, ramped volume automation).
