I have always enjoyed listening to Atmospheric Jungle, but I have only been collecting more and playing Atmospheric sets and mixes in recent years.  Photek is one of my favourite producers of all time, I love his Atmospheric tunes, so when I had the idea for this mix, I had to do it.  I love listening to these tunes at the end of a big night out at a sick rave, maybe you might too.  Enjoy!

Photek Atmospheric Jungle Mix

A month on from Conrad's passing I was reminiscing to the second Bukem and Conrad Essential mix and thought I'd upload. Equally brilliant and revolutionary as their first Essential mix, this one built on the impeccable selection of 1995 with another slew of dubplates highlighting incredible tunes that would come out of Good Looking and a few other select labels over the coming years. The tunes ranged from intricate ambient workouts like Jonny L Tychonic Cycle to deep amen batterers like Universal's Live Session (which was a little different and better on dubplate). Some took a little longer such as the lost G-Force Proximity tune that didn't surface till only recently. It's no exaggeration to say all the tunes on this mix were peak golden age, particularly Crystl Mindgames and Intense Only You...

Again, Conrad absolutely rules this mix from start to finish with total confidence and deep soulful lyrics - beautiful stuff from the leading master of ceremonies. A perfect mix for a summer's day.

Dagobah - Vol.2

This is a mix of 90s jazzstep classics, with anthems and deep cuts from Tango, Lemon D, Peshay, Photek, and more. The jazzstep style helped introduce me to jungle/dnb back in the day.

My feelings have circled around from thinking jazzstep was cheesy, when I was deep into techstep and neurofunk, to appreciating the raw production and creativity of these early tunes. How different they sound from each other contrasts with how formatted the music became as it morphed into liquid funk and then liquid dnb.

The artwork, brilliantly executed by RQ, references the iconic Wipeout 2097 soundtrack, down to the wave slyly evoking the title.

This mix features fallen soldiers Tango, Mark Goodings (Hidden Agenda), Molly Duncan (Intense), and Marcus Intalex, who released "Sky High", which sampled Guru.

While still rooted in the genre’s foundations, the album explores heavier atmospheres, analogue grit, and a moodier palette than Mustard Music’s trademark funk-led sound. Hardware-driven basslines, tactile drum programming, and subtle imperfections give the tracks a human edge — music made with intent rather than formula.

Living and working in Cornwall has also left its mark. There’s a sense of space and isolation woven into the record, contrasting sharply with the high-pressure kitchen environments that fund Oli’s creative output. I recently found a whole bunch of mixes I did between 1992 and 1997 and started the long process of ripping the cassettes to mp3.
As I work through them in no particular order I’ll put them up here for download.
Remember, the sound quality isn’t great as they were all recorded through a mixer with no EQ and committed to cassette on a shabby home stereo…But what the hell, it’s that authentic 90s sound through and through, with a needle-skip and everything.
