I really don't have enough superlatives to describe this song, simply front to back beautiful with its portrayal of an innocent first love, the love that got away. This begs for a follow up song of how they meet later, fall in love...Sublime performances all of you.

Monday Playlist week of 3/13/2023

This song is about political predation I started to see, beginning in the US, around 2000. It got far worse, in my estimation, around 2010. It's a song I had bouncing around in my cluttered mind for years, but never actually sat down and flushed out until 2010. Or so? I dunno. The final lines "don't place blind faith in black snake politicians" is an overt reference to fossil fuel corporations, their corrupt relationships with politicians in the US and abroad, and corporate capture of the US government. I got the idea from the indigenous legend "Prophesy of the black snake." Pipelines and oil trains, the visible signs as literal power is amassed and America literally divided. Americans, literally divided. Political power isn't as easy to see, but t's just as destructive. More so.

Good morning all you wonderful music loving people. And what a beautiful Monday morning it is; made all the better by this enticing new track Clive (https://soundcloud.com/winkandwoo, https://audius.co/winkandw00) and I just finished. It’s our first collaborative effort; and the results are spectacular, if I do say so myself.

As to the backdrop for this piece... it feels surreal, traversing this world of sleepers, lost in their own self-created daydreams and nightmares. It’s a bizarre balancing act, wanting to play a helpful part in this underground movement of consciousness and unconditional love, while also trying to accept that there are many who simply don’t want to wake up from this troubling dream. But in the end, our fate will be shared across the entire planet. And the full range of choices must be recognized and honored, for this grand adventure to play out to its fullest potential.

The old saying ‘It is always darkest before the dawn’ seems like an apt concept to focus on these days. And it’s helpful to remember, great beauty can still arise from the murkiest of waters and most inhospitable of soils. Times might seem dark right now, and we are most definitely heading toward some unprecedented troubling chapters. But it is still just a story; the human story. And we all get to chose our roles, and play our parts. I’m personally quite fond of the ‘kindness and compassion’ approach myself. But there are as many roles to play as there are humans on this planet; so choose wisely, and follow your bliss. In the end, that might be all that matters.

Me and God (Cover)

Durge wrote this one based on his recollection of the little red-headed girl that lived down the street from his childhood home. The song is done in an Irish folk style with tin whistle and accordion to set the tone. It recounts the aftermath of the little girl suddenly moving away, never to be heard from again, including the disappointment and realizations that came with that moment. We thank Sara Formoso for her valuable contribution on accordion.

Head In The Shed

This is a song that began with Steve (Steve's Planet)writing, playing it on acoustic guitar, and singing it on a stem he shared with Ken (K2 and the Three [and Four]), who added some perfect drums, as always. Ken then shared it with me, who added bass, and Tez (Llanpsych), who added some brilliant, tasteful guitar fills. We then got JJ involved, and he added the great, undulating organ. Finally, we got the master chef involved, Chris (cgmaness), who came up with some killer guitar riffs and mixed the whole thing very expertly. It must've been quite a chore, too, because there are a lot of magicians in this show. We all really feel lucky that Steve shared this song with us, and admire his singing and songwriting. We hope you enjoy our creation!
