Like so many others out there, I'm a huge fan of Tom Waits for his songwriting and performances. And this song is one of his earlier beauties, simple and direct. Such a story teller, a scene painter and the master of the story within the story, the acceptance and resignation. The lover of pretty things in a shadowy world. I recorded this quick and dirty on my iPhone, no mic, just the basic song...because I love singling it.

This song was written by Chuck Berry while in prison and was recorded
in 1964.  This " poor boy" traveled across dozen states by bus, train and
plane to get to his promise land (California).  It was also recorded by
Elvis Presley .  Remember, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Freddy Weller,
had a hit with it also.  Louisiana's own Johnny Allen also had a hit with
it here in cajun land.  Having a little fun with this one.

I was going through the Tony Harris collection and came across this little gem he'd written years ago , so I asked him if I could have a go at a complete revamp , he said yes and this is the result , I hope you like it as much as I do ! On the 22nd is a super song with Gaz and Nat , and on the 1st of September is my first outing with fantastic German orchestral composer Axel Menningen , I'm doing a duet with R and B singer Kim . Right Now

The Beatles were a profound influence on so many of us that grew up during the 60’s, musically, culturally and emotionally. The frenzy they stirred while somehow mostly evoking a certain playful joy will never cease to touch my memories of growing up with hope and enthusiasm. This song covers one of their beautiful old-school ballads, written by John Lennon, and providing a bit of a contrast to their signature rocking hits. It was released in 1963 as a single that ended up on their 1964 album, “Meet The Beatles”. I’ve always loved how it pulled together a bit of the 50’s slow-dance beauty with John’s emotive vocal delivery and the groups tight harmonies and overall Beatles vibe. Happily, Nat was glad to give this cover a go as we revved it up with a somewhat country-bluegrass feel while trying to hold onto some of that Fab 4 charm.

It's all about surviving a betrayed relationship and coming out the other side on top , make sure you catch the build up from around 2.25 . Ever wish you were somewhere else.  I know I'am not the only one who, at times,has to sit and listen while be chewed on.  Let your mind take you away.  John Prine- Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame.  He won his first Grammy in 1991 and at age 70 he was named Artist of the Year by the Americana Music Association.  His songs have been recorded by the likes of Johnny Cash, Bettte Midler, Bonnie Raitt, George Strait and many others.  His new album , The Tree of Forgiveness is receiving so much acclaim.  Love this man

Another live interpretation of an old classic love song, this one was originally written by Jimmy Duncan and first recorded by the Sonny Land Trio back in 1957. But this caught most of our attention from the Bobby Helms recording later that same year. I’ve also been a big fan of the version released in 1968 by The Vogues. This started as a live recording that Nat once again brought to full life with her beautiful accompanying vocals and instrumental nuances.
