Bylo nebylo... Když mě v létě roku 2018 C´MOI a Dekades pozvali na historicky první díl lounge festivalu Garden. do Mnichova Hradiště, přiznám se, že jsem k tomu hraní přistupoval dost skepticky... Všichni totiž tehdy používali pojmy chillout a lounge jako dobře vypadající nálepku ke hraní venku pod širým nebem se sluníčkem nad hlavou někde u vody a z reproduktorů to přitom svištělo rychlostí 125 úderů za minutu a více. José Padilla (R.I.P.) by si musel tu hlavu ukroutit a já jsem na tom byl tak nějak podobně... Ačkoliv jsem tou dobou už měl za sebou velmi uvolněné hraní na terase House boatu U Bukanýra, kam tahle muzika tak skvěle v parném létě pasovala ke grilovaným specialitám a drinkům s ledovými kostkami, stejně tak jako kulisa v nejlepší a nejhezčí thajské restauraci NOI, kde hrávám (a moc rád) už jedenáctým rokem, přesto jsem pro jistotu a možná trochu zbaběle svůj recordbag naplnil deskami z oblasti Deep House a Nu Disco. Tak nějak jsem předpokládal, že pro spoustu těch, kteří po propařené páteční noci vystrčí hlavu ve dvě odpoledne ze stanu, by to mohl být příjemný vyprošťovák, který s každou kocovinou spolehlivě zatočí... A zatočil. :) Vostrov je opravdu parádní místo a neskutečně na mě tenhle venkovní bar se svým zázemím i polohou zapůsobil, navíc je to z matičky stověžaté opravdu jen, co by tím pověstným kamenem dohodil. Pozvání k návratu jsem obdržel i další rok a spokojeně sledoval, jak na originální vizuály pomalu přibývají čím dál zvučnější jména mých kolegů za mixážním pultem, nahoru šla i návštěvnost, čas si udělaly i maminy s dětmi (jev jinde nevídaný) a také doprovodný program byl lepší a lepší... Je libo zmrzlinu? Chcete si nechat udělat kérku? Žadoní vaše tělo po józe? A oko po nějaké té výstavě zajímavých obrazů? A což takhle nechat si potisknout tašku, vyměnit oblečení za jiné a zakoupit domů nějaký ten originální výrobek ze dřeva? Nebo snad půjčit si kolo a projet se po nádherném okolí? To všechno tu najednou bylo možné, lidi měli na tvářích úsměvy, vypadali velmi spokojeně, seděli na dekách a poslouchali na vymazleném zvukovém aparátu všechny ty krásné písničky. A tak jsem každý rok tempo zvolňoval a zvolňoval, loni se musel omluvit, protože se mi set bohužel kryl s tím mnohem našláplejším na Colours of Ostrava, a tak je zde konečně i má omluvenka hudební, plná muziky, která mi v poslední době dělá obrovskou radost a jen doufám, že ji teď udělá také vám...

Velký dík patří mému „vinyl dealerovi“ Vikovi, který mi i přes zoufalou situaci na trhu dokázal všechny tyhle hudební dobroty sehnat, tradiční hlubokou poklonu vystřihávám pro DJe Rescue, který ve svém studiu zařídil, aby každý tón fungoval tak jak má, a díky i za každodenní konzultace s mým drahým kolegou DJem Diomem o novinkách, jež jsou na spadnutí, a které rozhodně musíme zařadit do našeho nedělního pořadu Fluffy Clouds na Radiu 1. Ne náhodou byl tento set nahrán na Valentýna pro mou nejmilovanější, která je nucena den co den po mnoho hodin poslouchat mé nekonečné oddělování zrn od plev. Tady už je tedy konečně jedno chutné zrnko vedle druhého, protože všichni ti producenti a studioví šikulově mají <3 na tom správném místě a já si jejich tvorbu pouštím zas a znovu pořád dokola...

First up for The Mix is Danny From Miami 🌴

@dannydaze takes us on a trip through Miami dance music history, diving into the irregular rhythms he grew up with and nodding to the new wave of flag-bearers. It also features an in-depth interview, exploring  his journey from childhood DJing to time in prison to rising up as Miami’s favourite figurehead, and the first explanation of the concept behind his long-awaited debut album ‘::BLUE::’.

"With this mix, my intention is to show a side of the IDM world I grew up with, steering away from the misconception that IDM is chaotic kitchen utensil-like sounds. I wanted to show a softer side focused on “danceable IDM” and electro. Music you can still bop your head to. As a youngster, I grew up dancing to non-traditional rhythms coming out of labels like M3rck, Schematic, and Beta Bodega, so I wanted to represent quite a bit of this Miami-infused sound along with some newer acts I’ve been immensely into at the moment," he says.

@dannydaze has proven incredibly hard to pin down since he first emerged. After starting down a path that very quickly took him to the best clubs in the world but off the back of a sound that wasn't really his, he has managed to rewrite perceptions. After deciding to do things his own way, at his own pace, he is now known for what he really loves: techno, electro and IDM. Just recently he continued his collaborative work with Brazilian RHR on four dark, gritty and evocative cuts on OmniDisc, and has more music on the way soon on Schematic Records. 

This mix hints at what to expect from that EP, says Danny. "Due to the current conditions, I decided to go with chill zone session for this one mixed live with a bunch of the styles that influenced me over the last 20 years. Went a bit more trip-hop/IDM/electro with it which points to the direction the upcoming EP and album later in the year. Hope everyone has a nice week." So strap in for two freewheeling hours of interplanetary sonics, churning rhythms and otherworldly cinematics that will start your week right.
