A talented and prolific artist, Nōpi returns to Meanwhile with a second original EP in the shape of the 3-track masterpiece, "Stri;la".

A rising Ukrainian star in the underground dance firmament, Nōpi has featured in the upper echelons of the Progressive and Organic House charts with a plethora of tracks signed to finest modern imprints. Replug, When We Dip XYZ and Anjunadeep have all played host to his distinctive and mellifluous tones, while Meanwhile also saw Nōpi release a twin-track offering of the highest order in January 2021 with his "Spoon Light" EP.

The "Stri;la" title track immediately excites with its powerful rhythmic backdrop and driving beat. A running bassline soon adds to the overall urgency while trademark atmospheric keys float over the mid-range in unhurried fashion. The juxtaposition between free-flowing melodies and rapid-fire percussion creates a delicious tension, before a glorious breakdown displays a wealth of textures, effects and atmospheres. Building into a rousing crescendo, the final movement explodes into life with a cascading array of harmonies and dynamic dancefloor prowess.

Continuing the powerful rhythmic force, "Stay" combines chest-thumping kick and ticking percussive groove, while underwater effects and mesmerising looped motif create a filtered sequence that resonates with tape delay and panned ambient effects. Bearing all the hallmarks of The Future Sound of London during their "Dead Cities" era, Nōpi has successfully captured an iconic sound while simultaneously advancing it into the modern progressive zeitgeist with a plethora of attendant organic house influences and multi-faceted aural tapestry. The resultant piece is as distinctive as it is ingenious and sonically rewarding, both in club and solo listener environments.

The final track sees the deeper vibe of "My Prophet World" take centre stage. Playing host to a filtered bassline cadence and pulsating white-noise pads infused with delays, an evocative melody gradually emerges to sit perfectly atop the classy dancefloor backdrop. Over its 8-minute voyage an interwoven tapestry of pitched and delayed motifs fold over each other in coruscating patterns. Full of dancefloor knowhow and immaculate production technique, the track waxes and wanes with typical ease, hitting its mark at the 5-minute point where a magical pause provides the perfect vehicle for Nōpi's delightful melodic groove to take centre stage once more.

Able to paint a unique sonic picture with a canvas full of iridescent colour and vivid texture, Nōpi hits the heights once more with his "Stri;la" triptych.

Bringing together a talented quintet in an artistic trio, Russia collaborates with the US as Mango, Meeting Molly and Phonic Youth visit "Iceland". A single remix comes from Dutch master, Alex O'Rion.

Mango needs no introduction to the dance music faithful. An iconic name with a rich history dating back over 15 years, his music for a plethora of imprints including ARVA, Anjunadeep, UV and his own Mango Alley, have seen over 400 production credits to his name. A comparatively new name to the underground dance scene, Meeting Molly has come a long way since a late-2018 debut for Incepto Music. A half century of credits for both Songspire Records and Monstercat have been complemented by work for Colorize and Black Hole before now arriving on GMJ and Matter's imprint. The final debutant sees San Francisco trio, Phonic Youth, revel in their differing musical backgrounds with a clutch of releases sprinkled over a decade and finding their way onto the likes of The Purr, Garuda and Monstercat Silk.

"Iceland" is a beautifully atmospheric offering that excites the senses with its shuffling hi-hats, heavy beat and evocative melodic phrasing. Spine-tingling vocals shimmer across the track in haunting and ethereal fashion as elegant piano notes complement the delicate lyrics. Marrying arpeggiated synth patterns with fizzing white-noise effects and a deeply grooved bassline, "Iceland" is a real tour de force of mature and modern progressive house.

A regular on Meanwhile with almost a score of original and remix production material, "Echium" in mid-2021 and "Solis" in late 2022, fully showcased Alex O'Rion's unique talents with a raft of original music that illustrated why the Dutch producer is at the top of his production game. Remixes of GMJ and Matter's "Gauntlet" and "The Path" showcased his remix skills as Alex O'Rion now debuts on Meanwhile Horizons with a typically imaginative and silky-smooth reworking that drives forward with a rolling groove and new rhythmic foundation as familiar keys from "Iceland" cascade gently across proceedings. A perfectly placed vocal refrain echoes the key lyrical theme found in the original before opening-up fully at the mid-point breakdown, while a sumptuous club-friendly backdrop of thickly textured pads and white-noise pads radiate in gently pulsing waves and a generous coating of reverb.

Full of atmosphere and vivid sonic landscapes, "Iceland" is lit up in iridescent glow by Mango, Meeting Molly and Phonic Youth.

Juliane Wolf is back with her first new originals in quite some time. In recent months she was busy relocating from Germany to Malta, but now that she's all settled in it's time for new music by this talented producer.

"Adventure / Departure" marks her official Manual Music single debut, after having already released a song on the Manualism 10.0 compilation and of course having released music on Manual Music's sub labels MNL and Cinematique.

We kick things off with 'Adventure', a deep mystique song with clear middle Eastern influences, build on a deep oozing bassline that just keeps on sucking you in further and further.

'Departure' maintains the same deep vibe but it's arrangement is slightly more straight forward with it's shuffling shakers and effective four-to-the-floor bassline. A clever synth melody arp carries this track throughout. A pure dance floor pleaser this one!

On remix duties we welcome two Manual debutants on board. Two of our personal favorites so it was about time we'd ask them to contribute; Dan Sieg and Kieran J.

We fell in love with Dan Sieg's recent output on Mango Alley and he continues his winning streak here with this remix for 'Adventure' which finds the middle between progressive house, deep techno and tech house vibes. A proper deep crossover winner!

Kieran J has been on our radar for many years. His productions are always so intelligently crafted, deep and rich of detail, we knew he would create something special for us, and so he did! Moody, pumping, almost dubby but still so funky, this man knows his stuff!
