Live set from FnF Campout XXI in the dark at 3am: We were beyond stoked to play under the Radiant Atmosphere lights on Know:Audio's full rig. Our intentions for the set were Badass-tech, Swampy curveballs, & evocative energies. We were trying to summon primal energies and ancient archetypes. For years we've wanted to use Ministry's "So What" in a set and we basically framed this whole energy upon that anchor/pivot. We can't stop dancing to these tracks and hope you enjoy 'em as well!

I’m honored to have been asked to submit an exclusive set for Faultline, the only Bay Area crew still earnestly holding down the breakbeat vibe. I’ve been playing breaks since the late 90’s and I strove to incorporate a wide spectrum of Swampy breakbeat from downtempo, through cross-genre House flavors with modern Bay Area bass vibes, through late 00’s energy, ending on my 90’s DJ origins in progressive breakbeat. This is one of my favorite cohesive mixes I’ve done; I hit all my targets and think the vibe is just delicious, hella Deep, and a bit moody for winter vibes. I open slow and moody while the last five songs all have relationship vocals to my current struggles and bear relevant soul; while the middle drops fav jams from all eras. Sunday Pwnage part 3:
9am-Noon. A fun sunny romp in a field of friends on a sacred sunday in the woods. We teased a spectrum of genres out of each other and served the crowd curveballs while they served champagne and bacon. We used a lot of vocal sample easter eggs to giggle at upon relistens and had a great time pulling off the final 3+ hours of spinning for sunday smiles (we'd just wrapped up a 3 hour pre-dawn set at FRC campout up the road from Sanctuary 6). We had an absolute blast and thank Strategik for making magic!

Venus Dawn - Sunday Pwnage 2 - Dao Live at FRC 2018

“So, eleven hundred men went into the water. 316 men come out, the sharks took the rest. Saturday, FnF poolside 12:45, 2019. Anyway, we delivered the bomb.” -Quint from Jaws. The sharks swam vigorously, the ravers ignored them, apparently good vibes repel sharks. Dao and PWNY sent their sexy shark house through human and marine cartilage alike. UV rays pounded through the ozone on FnF pool inhabitants and after a taxing Friday night many looked to the soundwaves for healing and invigoration. The music funked and jived through the mid 120 bpms. Floaties spontaneously combusted and the beat carried the party through the + 90° hotness. Some shopped at the clothing swap, some enjoyed massages, everyone heard the duo hold the afternoon. Dao and PWNY have toured the lower 48 for 10 years now, mostly via rideshare and short bus. Their head and booty bobbing beats have become an FnF staple. Whether opening, closing, in the day or at night, everyone eats their green egg breaks and hambone house. They brought the dome over the pool down with their finishing track “baby shark dance.” Hundreds of closeted opears, nannies and dad joke offenders came out of the woodwork with that family friendly heater. As always Dao and PWNY meant business Saturday, as Quint says best “I’m not talkin’ about pleasure boatin’ or daily sailin’, I’m talkin’ about workin’ for a livin’, I’m talking about sharkin’!” ... Raver Tip #80: Apparently good vibes repel sharks.

Dao & Pwny - FnF Poolside 2019

Beautiful people dancing by the pool. Beach balls, inner tubes, mimosas, bikinis, merkins; and that one chode in the banana hammock, gah! Slip this on at your favorite campout poolside and watch the booties and smiles. 

We were going for 'summer', 'humid', & 'sexy' with this vibe here and wanted to shake up genres like a cold mixed drink.  real talk ;)

Deep Bikini

There are relationships that provoke the best in one another, that constantly challenge each other to be their best.  Dao & Pwny, both old school veterans, started a collaboration in 2008 that would change both them and their audience.  Their divergent style influenced each other into a cohesive Deep sound.  They shun the narrow term Deep House, and instead embrace everything bassy & Deep, creating a cohesive amalgam of deep house, deep breaks, deep tech, and cerebral emotive grooves that defy genres.  True musicians, their unplanned live dialogue is tethered by harmonics and key changes primary to beats and groove.  Yet, they're locked into the crowd and rule the groove, with songs changing phases often and evoking somatic soulful dancing. They entice, they tease, they hit your g-spot, and we all come together.  Their love is palpable and their stage presence is deep in it with the dancefloor.  A genuine treat for both your hips, ears, and soul.
