When I was rather young and lived in rural Texas, I remember first barely being able to tune into Rice University's college radio late at night - opening me up to new experiences of sound making through experimental explorations, music concrete, and general oddities. The signal was never very good and that made it all the better - reaching into these nearly secret radio transmissions of weirdness and trippy humor.
It was that which likely provoked me into such directions and I began using old school deck-to-deck style, blending cassette recordings into my own little worlds of cutup sound collages. Though I play instruments, compose and song write a bit more 'traditionally', this basic idea of throwing away rationality and having fun never left my approach to music. Obviously art doesn't have to be a sport to be interesting or bring tears of despair to be moving, and rationality certainly isn't necessary for a good time.
This offering, "Renting Toddlers", for classwar karaoke's 30th release, uses excerpts from collections of found cassettes, and was made in much that same spirit of tape mashups. 

The 'fucka-mucka' kid who appears in this recording, came from a group of christian kids in the 80s who were left alone with a cassette recorder, and the renting toddler nutter, well, I hope they have a better job now than renting children out and secretly hiding them in your house to find.

Warbling sea harbored melodies - rhythmic tintinnabulary cabalettas inside soft baked fairy tale threnodies - lilting moontouched theramins and/or psychic lithographs of balloons, barns, and braided banana leaves - sleeping during dogwatch in the crosstrees by the languid moans of threadbare weatherboards - gritty euphonic lo-fi transmissions from long dead moon farms - invocations from antique radios short circuiting in cool spring rain.

This is for the anchors which bind the sugar to the orange.
For summoning unseasonal titans to storm the calamity of drab hours, out of ether,
the cloud throned dumplings who give suck to fat breasted delight and unabashed waking -
the blimpy sprites who gratify each naked fig by imbibing their mistaken turns
into the cotton headed sighs of unloved mouse trap music. 



My work has been featured on various Netlabels, film experiments, and worldwide radio shows, including BBC6's "Introducing".
