Urban legend records launches its new release; a four-track EP, under the name 'Muharib', which means 'warrior' in Arabic. This musical project created by the Barcelona - based artist Wará is a special tribute to the courage and determination of women in the Arabic world. It honours and celebrates their ability to resist injustice, embrace their empowerment, and their feminine essence. Through Muharib the artist explores and delves into the concepts of strength and femininity, weaving a sonorous homage to them. Each track on the EP is named after four remarkable women from the Arab world, whose dedication and efforts have made significant strides in the fight for women's rights: Durriya Shafik, Zaynab al-Ghazzali, Nawal el-Saadawi, and Fatima Mernissi. Their inspiring legacies are intertwined with the melodies, breathing life into the EP that pays tribute to their tireless struggle and unwavering spirit.

We premiere Durriya a piece that introduces a sense of chaos and unpredictability. The carefully crafted distortions add layers of texture and complexity, creating an otherwordly experience that pushes the boundaries of conventional electronic music. A relentless baseline accompanied by the feminine voices of the islamic world amplifying the darkness and depth of the experience.

For our next ARBEITcast episode, we are happy to welcome Vienna-based DJ and producer, Julo.

Julo's journey began around seven years ago with hip-hop beats and track production. As hip-hop became more commercialized, he began to question his own values and shifted towards the underground electronic scene. After moving to Vienna, where he still lives, he co-founded "Initiative21" with six other members. Today, they are a staple of Vienna’s club scene, hosting regular events and raves. Besides regular club events and raves, they often take over vacant, unused spaces, transforming and repurposing them to create more room for art and subculture. In a short amount of time, their consistent work on awareness has also become well-established.

Julo’s sets are all about making music accessible and experiential. He sees DJing as a way to introduce people to new rhythms and soundscapes while keeping a connection to the familiar.

His current serving blends organic rhythms with industrial vibes, creating a sonic journey through nature. Make sure to tune in for this one!
