Premiere: darkmavis and sohotsospicy ‘Glorified’

There's nothing we love more than premiering new Irish music, and this one is particularly special as it is a collaboration between two friends, and Dublin up and coming producers who have managed to create a sound that brings an essence of the dance floor back to life at a time we need it most.

darkmavis and sohotsospicy's come together for this EP release aptly named 'sodarksospicy'. This debut EP on Talamh Records releases on the 26th of March and features two original tracks from the duo, along with two remixes from both Cnámha and Sweet Philly. Glorified is an experimental club inspired banger featuring abstract vocal chops with tonnes of breaks and hardcore kicks.

We're delighted to debut another heavyweight track from Dublin based DJ & Producer darkmavis; titled 'Encoded' courtesy of MIDNIGHT CLIMAX. 

Nauseating textures decay amongst rolling kick-drums and eerie pads, culminating in visceral unrest; resulting in cinematic storytelling best played under the shadow of night.

'Encoded' will drop October 18th as part of the labels first V/A - with all artists taking part, members and allies of the LGBTQIA community. With the aim to connect different LGBTQIA communities around the world.

[Premiere] darkmavis & sweet philly - Sprite (Euphore EP out on 26th November)

We kick off the weeks premiere's with a collaboration from two of Ireland's fast rising stars, as darkmavies and Sweet Philly combine for this outstanding 5 track EP. 

darkmavis and Sweet Philly began collaborating following Philly’s ‘Glorified’ remix as part of darkmavies ‘sodarksospicy’ EP with Dubiln DJ and producer sohotsospicy. 

The pair synthesised their influences to create a genre-spanning club EP, that draws inspiration from trance, club, house, jungle, breaks, techno and experimental pop music.

Today, we're delighted to premiere our favourite track from the EP, '5pm'.

"Our opening track ‘Sprite’, a dreamy trance-inspired track sets the tone for this uplifting EP building to a Euphoric trap-influenced breakdown. The title, ‘Euphore’ is a bright pink and sparkly 155bpm rave tune stacked with jersey club, trance and pop influences. ‘Stabbed’ is a house-inspired departure from the previous tracks, and something neither of us expected to take form. It’s packed with melodic vocal samples and that classic stabby rave piano sound."

"‘5pm’ takes a darker, jungle-infused turn. Amen breaks, bright pads and arps blend with techno and hardcore influences to create an eclectic, exciting dancefloor filler. The closing track ‘IDNF’ was the first track we collaborated on, and set the tone for the whole EP. Starting with a simple lead loop and drum break shared via google drive, ‘IDNF’ grew into a beautiful, experimental-pop inspired club track that synthesised both of our vibes perfectly and propelled us to create this EP. ‘IDNF’ is our own bright pink and sparkly take on Jungle, infused with gabber, rave, trance and DnB influences. We hope you enjoy ☆"

always playing and making music with forward thinking and emotional energy in mind with his approach. 

Co-founder of 'Ethereal Skies', Dublin based avant-garde party series, platform and label and part of Salvaged Dublin. 

Passionate for long breakdowns, singalong oldskool vocals, classic trance references, hypnotising melodies, happy and oldskool hardcore, huge kicks, amen breaks and stereo love. darkmavis is
inspired most by queer electronic music scenes past and present, old-skool hardcore, classic trance and from a broad spectrum of forward thinking and avant-garde electronic music. 

darkmavis has had a string of mixes for platforms, various self and independent label releases, has also hosted radio shows on Dublin Digital Radio, AAJA Radio, Threads, Komrad, HÖR Berlin and more and has played some of the best parties, festivals and spaces in Dublin and London which shared line ups with a vast amount of Irish and UK local talent and International talent the likes of Sama Abdulhadi, BLK, Chippy Nonstop, Ani Klang, JamesJamesJames, DJ Paypal, Varg2tm, Dark0, Gabber Eleganza, Namasenda, DART, Deepneue and much more.


His love for dance music stems from an early discovery of house music and 90s trance music as a child, which his sister Lorna would constantly have playing around him which led to him watch
many rave culture documentaries and read about it which led him to the musical path he is on now blending between many sounds.

‘darkmavis’ as the co-founder of Ethereal Skies has prepared an acid and balearic laced neo trance production, taking his sound in a direction to see it progress towards.

We've copped the premiere of Dublin based producer darmavis' icanfeel; a devastatingly beautiful cut of deconstructed hardcore that borrows inspo from Casual Gabberz, Aphex Twin and the late SOPHIE. A bouncy, 160bpm glitch-techno buzz that should be played explicitly at high volume, this is certainly one to look out for when the clubs re-open.
