Our latest discovery is Bas Amro, a 19 year old wunderkind from Enschede in the Netherlands. Don’t be fooled be his age, there’s no doubt about the fact that his music sounds mature and developed. Bas has been DJ-ing and making music since he was 14 years old and has an extreme talent for making electronic music. He just gets it. The rights sounds, layering, arranging: it all seems to come natural to him. Titletrack ‘Le Huitième Arrondissement’ is examplatory for his talent. If Jimpster and Pepe Bradock would ever make a track together, it would probably sound like this. Beautiful, emotion ridden strings, organs are lushfully combined with a disco-esque bassline and solid house groove. A secret weapon for special moments if we dare say. We asked our good friend Pitto to reinterpret this tune and he managed to give the original moody vibe a dark little twist. Breakbeat and 4/4 are fighting over dominance througout, the atmosphere is irie, dark and a bit freaky without ever getting cold or mean. Fall and winter are coming and this is the prelude. ‘Sunday Rut’ concludes the 12th installment of the Ltd series. A no-nonsense tech house roller with a melodic surprise in the break and with that Bas reveals that he has much, much more in stall for us in the future!
