2013 saw Silicone Soul celebrating the 10th Anniversary of their Darkroom Dubs imprint. Launched in Glasgow back in 2003, the DRD stamp has become a mark of quality and seen many established names exploring deeper realms whilst also unearthing fresh and exciting global talent. 

From Fabric to Watergate, The Standard Rooftop to Club Bahrein Buenos Aires, the Scottish duo have celebrated their disco-decade with a string of '10 Year' parties spread across the last 12 months, building on Darkroom Dubs already strong global reach. 

To round off their birthday in style Craig and Graeme have asked some of the label's main acts and strongest supporters to contribute a track for a new compilation. Artists including jozif, Ryan Crosson, Uner, Gary Beck, Of Norway and Simon Garcia all feature in the collection that Silicone Soul present as a snapshot of the future sound and musical vision of Darkroom Dubs.

Deep in the darkest corner of the Darkroom Dubs HQ, hidden behind a racks and racks of records, is a secret passageway. Beyond it lies a long dark tunnel laced with more booby traps than the entire Indiana Jones franchise. Follow it to the very end, if you dare, and you will find a two-foot thick door made of the strongest Scottish steel. Only two men can open it, but everyone knows what is behind it.

Those men are Darkroom Dubs bosses Silicone Soul. And the loot behind this heavily guarded façade is the masters to Darkroom Dubs remarkable back catalogue: A vault stocked with over 16 years of ageless deep, dark designs from some of the worlds most respected and innovative house and techno craftsmen. A vault that contains no fluff, no filler. Just grooves tailored strictly for understanding dancefloors that come with a sound of their own. Its a late-night hypnotic, forward-facing sound that is showcased perfectly here on From The Vaults Vol. 1.

The original of 'Nu World' is a rousing single designed to sweep dancers off their feet. In Solomun's hands, it becomes one of his signature melodic masterpieces. The Diynamic label founder is one of dance music's most globally recognised stars. He has been immortalised in the legendary Grand Theft Auto video game, holds his own influential residency at Pacha in Ibiza and is on a near constant tour of the world's biggest clubs and festivals where he leads the house scene from the front. 

His seven minute rework of 'Nu World' is a typically emotive house track with yearning vocal samples immediately pulling you in. The fresh drums are underpinned by warm, rumbling bass, and the searching synth craft is expansive. When the classic piano chords come in mid-way through, hands will go skyward and the dance floor will be united as one. 

This is a remix that brings heartfelt joy and rousing house grooves.

Nu World

Maceo Plex - Nu World (Solomun Remix)

With releases on Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations and BPitch Control, it's safe to say Venezuelan-originating, Barcelona-based duo Fur Coat are backed by some real key players.

Last year's 'There's No Time' EP on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss' HC was a proper smash, with the title track a certainty to mess with your mind. That followed the 'U Turn' EP on Damian Lazarus' Crosstown, a tasty four-tracker of sizzling grooves.

Soon they make their debut for Balance, mixing the 'Balance presents Fur Coat' compilation featuring cuts by DJ Koze, Francesca Lombardo, Roman Flügel and a couple from themselves.
