BLOSSOMING TALKS ABOUT DISTURBED GUESTS

What a wonderful tune Seagull sent me to collaborate on.  His nylon-string and bass playing is lovely but he asked if I could help with a second guitar voice.  The Taylor JKSM seemed the perfect fit with its sweet steel-string acoustic voice.  The undercurrent of meaning in the song is best described by Seagull himself:
"The song is called Stairway, and I realized that it reflects everyone's climb in life. We are encouraged and taught from birth that we must constantly get better at everything. Better upbringing, better behavior, better education, better job, better pay, better things, better health, better parent, better home, better car and so on...But what is the real goal of all this striving? Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with education hopefully producing better and more understanding and empathetic people, and a safer and nicer society. But.....and I think it's a big but.... as we are obviously being trained to buy all the happiness we need in life instead of experiencing it in a peaceful, healthy and experiential life." 
It is a question of what is ultimately important in our life and are we willing to make the climb to reach and attain it.  Something to ponder while you listen:)

Stephen a.k.a. @texmex-shaman and I have worked on some epic multi-artist collab tracks before (like The Holy Dumpling), but this is the first time that just the two of us have worked together. I came up with the beat and synths and because of the dubby kind of style I thought it was just dying for some guitars. I was stoked that Stephen agreed to take a run at this and even more so after hearing the results! The mixing on this one is a joint effort too.

This is a song that has been a long time coming. Ken (K2 and the Three [and the Four]) and I have been big fans of Artur (Surfers Like Us) for going on a year now, because of his unique, refined, genre-specific songwriting and excellent playing. We've both been bugging him almost that entire time to share one of his songs with us. So, he finally agreed. This is the result. 
  I posted it and Ken, who added the perfect drums and percussion, was already on board. Then we invited JJ for some dynamic, soulful organ. We then asked Tez to add a lead and mix it for us. He added a killer, tasteful lead, and performed the heroic task of mixing it to all of our liking. I'm on my four string fretless for this one. I wish we could've squeezed Stephen (TexMex Shaman) into this one, but he'll definitely be on the next. We all hope you enjoy it!

"This is a song that originated with Steve of Steve's Planet. He came up with a really cool guitar instrumental and the vocals, which he is very passionately singing,  while travelling through the primordial forests of Central Europe and shared it with all of us. I added the bass and the electric piano. Tez (Llanpsych) added the really cool guitar parts that sound like orchestral violins. Ken (K2 and the Three, and K2 and the Four) added the perfectly complimentary rolling drums. Stephen (TexMex Shaman) added the awesome, trippy sitar and pulled the whole thing together as an expert producer and mixer. Tez also mastered it. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we did making it."
