In 1991 RePhleX records introduced the concept of 'Braindance' to label the music they release.
Often people equate Braindance and IDM. That is completely wrong. Braindance is More than IDM.
IDM is a style of electronic music, and Braindance isn't one.
Braindance is NOT a limp and lifeless set of sounds like 97% of everything that industry produces. It is the Music! A sound that contains feelings, emotions and inspiration!

Here is the text posted on the Rephlex website in the 90's:
"braindance is the genre that encompasses the best elements of all genres, e.g traditional, classical, electronic music, popular, modern, industrial, ambient, hip hop, electro, house, techno, breakbeat, hardcore, ragga, garage, drum and bass, etc.

Starting as a DJ from a young age, Dimitris Michas honed his craft in his hometown of Thessaloniki, Greece, before expanding his reach to the vibrant music scenes of Mykonos and beyond. His passion for music led him to study music production and sound engineering in 2010, immersing himself in communities that shared his dedication to audio design and the journey of sound.

In 2013, after a successful career in Mykonos, Dimitris relocated to Sydney, Australia, seeking new opportunities and experiences in the dynamic Australian music scene.

In 2017, Dimitris released his debut EP, “Non Stop,” featuring tracks “P1” and “P2,” on Innocent Music. This release marked the beginning of a series of successful projects, including collaborations with renowned labels such as Little Helpers and Whoyostro.

The year 2017 was a significant milestone for Dimitris, as he was recognized among the Top 100 Minimal/Deep Tech artists on Beatport, reflecting his growing influence in the electronic music scene. His tracks gained substantial traction, with “Mind Games” earning 312 points over 8 days on Beatport charts. During this period, he also secured releases with prominent labels like Little Helpers and Innocent Music, further establishing his presence in the Minimal/Deep Tech genre.

Throughout his career, Dimitris has garnered support from notable artists in the electronic music community, sharing stages and receiving recognition from industry leaders.

After years of performing at numerous parties and events, Dimitris relocated to the Gold Coast in 2023. Embracing a new chapter in his career, he launched his own record label, Ethereal Groove Music, focusing on organic sounds that blend melodic percussion with captivating vocals and grooves. This evolution showcases his commitment to innovation and his ability to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of electronic music.

In 2024, under his alias DMTRi GRC, Dimitris had a busy year with his Psychology label, performing at Mushroom Valley Festival and a series of parties alongside headliners such as Groundbass, Synthatic, DreamVibes, Skizologic, Unknown Concept and Sphera. These events highlighted his versatility and dedication to the electronic music scene.

In early 2025, Dimitris released his Afro House track “Tuine,” under his full name, Dimitris Michas, demonstrating his versatility and continuous creative growth. He has also shared the stage with esteemed artists such as Monkey Safari, Marco Lys, Rebuke, Sparrow & Barbosa, Themba, Tim Green, and Double Touch, reflecting his status as a respected figure in the industry.

Dimitris Michas’s journey from local DJ to internationally recognized artist serves as an inspiration to aspiring musicians, highlighting the importance of passion, dedication, and adaptability in achieving success within the dynamic world of electronic music.

Kevin Joyce is a new exciting musician who works primarily as an electronic artist utilizing software synths, samples & drum machines.

Combining his love of funk, jazz, techno & house music, he creates a hybrid of these genres but never at the cost of losing melody, harmony & pulsating rhythm. His place of work is a studio overlooking a canyon full of wildlife such as coyotes & wild boar. This is turn keeps him inspired with a beautiful view and a myriad of natural sounds.
