I am super happy to share this new kind of vibes. I put aside a bit my bass music stuff during quarantine and it feels good to try new things and get outside the box.

Horizon” reflects that we all should see the things beyond their actual context. When I produced this EP, I pushed my own boundaries : I tried new things beyond my original style, beyond my comfort zone.

Toolroom isn’t letting up on the quality releases for 2021, and their latest record ‘Do You Remember’ is no exception to the rule. Making his return to the label, the French house producer and DJ Dombresky turns up the heat on this record, featuring the signature voice of Camden Cox as the pair jet set off into the sunset with their most exciting release yet.

Following on from last year’s smash hit collaboration ‘Stronger’ with Parisian DJ and producer Boston Bun, Dombresky is back with his eyes set on the sun, the future and a summer of non – stop partying. Making up for lost time, ‘Do You Remember’ is a breath of fresh air, ready to reignite those passionate memories and feelings of lost love.
Both Dombresky and Camden Cox have gone all out on ‘Do You Remember’, creating a straight up house banger drenched in nostalgia, reminiscent of those long hazy summers which have gone by. The record itself is all vibe, its crisp piano chords are layered with buzzy synth lines grounded by a pumping percussive beat. Camden Cox’s vocals repeatedly asking if you remember, frequently reoccur throughout the track before warping into a fuzzy, modulated tape loop chopped up and played back like a distant memory.

Like the refreshing cool shade on a hot afternoon or dipping your feet into crystal clear pool, ‘Do You Remember’ is the slice of summer we’ve all been waiting for, arriving just in time to soundtrack 2021 and the return of the live events we have all been so desperate for.

I couldn't be happier to be sharing new music with you all and this record in particular 😤

Where have I been? Good question! 2020 just felt like the wrong time to release music for me. My music has always been focused on lifting people up and good vibes and last year was...last year. After I dropped the Gunna remix last May I just decided to focus on writing new originals and laying the groundwork for a big 2021. 

So here we are - the first of (at least) 4 singles I'm releasing this year! For the first time in my music career I have 100%, complete control over my music - when it's released, how it's released, who I work with - and it is an amazing feeling. And that actually leads into the story of this record...

So a while back I got approached about doing a remix for a pretty big EDM artist, did what I thought was great work, only to have them turn it down and never drop any remixes. I was bummed about the situation but knew there was too much here to just throw away so I changed the key, changed the chords, sped it up, and re-produced the whole song, which is now One Touch. I don't think there could be a more fitting start for the next phase of my project (100% originals) than turning a remix someone didn't want to let me put out into a song I love and can share with you all.

I'm so happy with how this record turned out. Few things in life make me happier than a good ol piano house slapper and I tried to walk the line on this between 90s vintage vibes and something that will absolutely smack when you play it in a club.

We live at a time when distractions from reality are never further away than our fingertips. Our phones offer us unlimited stimulation and temporary comfort. The possibilities of technology are endless, but they also limit the possibility…the possibility to truly experience and submit to the moment.

For me, going to a club has always been about letting go of the world around me, like a vacation from the nagging realities of everyday life. In the best clubs I have been to, the people were united by a desire to experience electronic music in the purest sense; to get lost in its tension and release. No matter what was going on in their lives, it was a place where, for at least a few hours, nothing else mattered but the sheer power music had to bring people joy. And those experiences - held only by those in that room, at that moment - were almost like the reward to submitting to a secret society. At the end of the night, I could look at my friends, old and new, and without saying a single word, we'd know that what we experienced together was something special, something that would never quite be repeated again.

Some of my early clubbing experiences have stayed with me for my entire life. They are why I'm doing what I'm doing today. There is not a photo, forum thread or social media post in existence to mark their happening, but the memories, the emotions I felt, the way those nights changed my life - those things stay with me to this day.

Somewhere along the way, we as a society have lost the ability to experience those special moments. On the rare occasion that they do happen, we scramble to grab our phones in time to capture them - but those moments cannot be truly captured - and they don’t need to be broadcasted or recorded. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is fully appreciate what is happening in that room, at that moment, with those people around us. 

I think our society needs clubbing experiences where they go home with more than just a picture to post on instagram. That's why I'm starting This Never Happened - I want to create that experience for people.

At This Never Happened, we invite you into a space where the only thing that matters are the people in that room, the music and the magic that happens when those things interact. An event where the dancefloor will be a phone and photo-free space.

This experience we share together may, by 2016 standards, have never happened. But those who dare will always know - something special did happen here. 

The first show will be a return to my hometown of San Francisco on 3 June at Mezzanine. It's a venue I've dreamed of headlining for many years and the perfect place to start this new chapter. If we can make this happen - and work - together, there will be many, many more. 

This Never Happened will not just be the name of these events, but also the name of a new record label. This label will be the outlet for music, by me, that is inspired by and made for this experience. The first song I'm releasing is called "Fingerprint" and you can listen to it below.

Putting this project together with my team over the last 6 months triggered a creative spark in me unlike anything I've ever felt before, and I'm so excited for you guys to hear the music I've come up with during that time.

I look forward to building this concept with you :)
