I'm so honored and happy to announce this week's mix from an icon of dance culture, a father of Balearic beat, a previous resident at Ibiza's Amnesia, and an ever-unpredictable DJ and producer who never fails to impress, the legendary DJ Alfredo (Ibiza).

Alfredo Fiorito, the Argentinian-born artist, who emigrated to Ibiza in 1976, helped to grow the popularity of dance music on the island. He also inspired the Balearic beat movement and influential club nights such as Shoom, after Danny Rampling, Paul Oakenfold, Nicky Holloway and Johnny Walker caught a set of his at Amnesia in 1987 and returned to the UK feeling energized to recreate the experience at home.

His deeply eclectic sets call on all forms of disco, dub und afro, pop, soul and jazz, classical and contemporary house, and, of course, plenty of obscure Balearic gems, old and new, and everything in-between.  The brilliance of his record digging and famously steamy selections encompass the true essence of hedonism and inclusivity of Ibiza. 

The club scene on Ibiza, and the dance music industry in general, owe him a great deal of gratitude.

Multi-award winning and still in demand to play anything from beachfront restaurants to world-renowned super clubs, Alfredo is the man who can make jazz, new age or rock & roll all make sense in the club. He can make you sweat it out in a darkened club or make you shiver in the sun.

From peak time to sunset gigs that touch on the soul, flamenco, Latin and downtempo, Alfredo’s sounds are characterized by a certain inescapable feeling that makes the most sense in the sun. They always appeal to genuinely diverse crowds made up of all colors, sexualities, and races, and very much embody the escapist sound and inclusive spirit of Ibiza.

"The reason I selected this for the series was, for myself, it being personal time piece, the quality of the tracks and the mix being consistently good. Building through some great soulful house vocals and dubs into some deep cuts that haven't dated since it's release in 2002. Having quite a few of these on vinyl picked up around the time, including Mindflight's "Release", Derrick White's "Soul 2 Let Go" and Kerri Chandler's "Atmospheric Beats" the mix by silky deep house man Miguel Migs was never far from the earlobes at the time. And being released on the ever consistently good Naked Music label, its great from start to finish. A true reflection of the kinds of tracks I played out in sets when I started out DJing. Enjoy!!"
