As seemingly everybody that owns a computer is a producer these days, we understand that it can be a little daunting exploring new artists. Luckily, here at Data Transmission, we are on an endless mission to sort the wheat from the chaff and bring you the most exciting new acts that you really do need to hear.

One such man, who has made rather a lot of noise in his debut year, is Astro Zu. This young Londoner popped out a handful EPs on Bad Life in 2014 to much critical acclaim; his blend of R&B, hip hop and soulful soundscapes standing out from the pack.

Despite being locked away in the studio working on his debut LP (due out early 2015), Astro managed to put together an exclusive mix for us to show off his inventive and intriguing sound.

The second instalment of brand new WWD mix series 5 for 15 is here! Following on from a stellar Di Chiara Brothers performance last week, we take things deeper with one of Italy's most impressive producers in 2014. He's a man who's tracks have garnered attention from every corner of the globe in the last twelve months, winning the plaudits and welcome of renowned imprints such as Parquet, Ajunadeep and Steyoyoke. He is of course Whomi! 2014 has been a massive year for the producer, who's deep, enchanting tunes have found their way into the sets of some major players, which include the likes of Mano Le Tough, Hunter/Game & John Digweed. With a big 2015 clearly on the cards, we were emplored to have him join us in the hotseat for tasty mix and a little Q&A action!

Marc Poppcke - Favourites Of The Month February 2015

The latest Moodcast comes from Berlin based Jonas Saalbach known from his excellent releases on Einmusika & Save Us, and soon to be known from his debut Moodmusic release called 'Hyperrider EP' coming out in spring 2015.

Deep & honest techno is his trademark, with powerful bass, graceful arrangements and dreamy melodies – one might add a lot more attributes, but basically, Jonas Saalbach is refreshingly different.

HUISGEMAAKT #2 - YOKTO

The thing I love most about Burning Man is no matter how much you think you've prepared, you still never really know what to expect. The uncertainty, the excitement, the apprehension, and sometimes even the fear of what's just around the corner is what keeps so many of us coming back every year with a renewed childlike wonder - a feeling that seems to slip away as we get older. Sometimes everything goes right, and sometimes things just go wrong. 2014 was a mixed bag for me with some high highs (spending time with amazing people, getting to DJ in the best place in the world, seeing some incredible forms of expression) and low lows (namely falling hard on my back off of a see-saw putting me in constant pain for the entire week - it even hurt to laugh!)...but at the end of the day, I got exactly what I bargained for and couldn't ask for anything more: I experienced the unexpected.

In contrast to the previous two years on the bus, this year I played first on Friday night and took a little sonic stroll around different sounds and moods to open the night before Bedouin beautifully escalated the night into proper party mode...Pardon any sloppy mixing, we can just blame that on my aching back :)

Thanks to everyone who was there early in the night to catch my set, and thanks to everyone listening at home, Robot Heart, and Dr Burridge for the continued support over the years...Having the opportunity to do what I do is such a great gift from all of you.

Atish - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2014

Since dropping his first EP, Closer, back in August of last year, Portsmouth producer, Kris Davis, has leapt into the limelight so dramatically that we reckon he'd give Greg Rutherford a run (or should that be jump?) for his money.

Just as his hometown has been stamped firmly on the map in recent years, via the Love Amplified and Kris' own Lost Within nights; Davis has solidified his position, with music for Bade and Save Us Records, and slots alongside some of the world's biggest DJs - and he's only just getting started!

Over the next three months, the Pompey lad is readying himself for global domination. May sees Davis drop his 2-track Bleak & Empathy EP via Christian Loffler's Young Alaska imprint, plus he's on remix duty for Hafendisko, Save Us and Underyourskin Records. Thankfully all this fame hasn't gone to Kris' head; on May 1st he'll be keeping it intimate, playing alongside Gidge at a top secret 100 capacity venue in Dalston.
