Splash Down (Ristar) Remake

It's the favorite track of many.. compressed into 8 channels with mainly FF6 samples. More than 36 hours was spent on this, trying to find the most important things of the original song and squeezing it all in there, keeping track of every little thing, pushing the limits of the SNES as far as it can go. Made in Super Mario World using AddMusicK.

Many thanks to @potato-tan for helping me out a lot with this one, constantly giving me feedback and pushing me so far to make this perfect.

I always felt that many of the SMG arrangements out there felt lacking, so that's why I did this. I wanted to prove that the SPC700 can sound just as amazing as modern technology with the right execution, and I feel like it worked out just fine.

Sample sources: Final Fantasy VI, Megaman 7,  General MIDI, Gradius III, Parodius, Hourai Gakuen no Bouken.

In total there's 14 quite big samples in the song, with 112ms of delay. For the SNES, this is pretty much pushing the limits, because the ARAM is about as full as it can be for the song.

Originally released in 1993 for the SEGA Mega Drive, Gunstar Heroes remains a cult favourite for its fast-paced and inventive play style, underpinned by an unforgettably frenetic, bass-heavy soundtrack composed by Norio “NON” Hanzawa. 

Gunstar Heroes is presented as a double LP, sourced from original hardware and cut at 45RPM. The packaging comprises a heavy single-pocket sleeve and two printed inner sleeves, showcasing an array of colourful illustrations and rare concept art drawn from the archives in Japan. Also included is a double-sided foldout poster, featuring the original cover art from both the Western and Japanese versions of the game.

Mega Man 9 - We're the Robots [SNES - MM7 style]

I converted the SMPS data from the game using ValleyBall's SMPS2MIDI program which works extremely well for the most part. I used the Roland Drum Sample CD again, but all the instruments here are a mixture of Korg analog and Korg digital synths/workstations. I think for the e.piano I used a Korg M1, might've been the Wavestation though since it sounds pretty clean.

FDS FM guitars are fun as hell! Initially I just meant to mess around with them for a little bit, but I accidentally the whole song. I guess it's fitting seeing how the game's 17th anniversary is coming up pretty soon? Happy early birthday I guess.
