Somewhere in Berlin during a cold and foggy winter: Hyboid is recording his album "Sequencing the Apocalypse" directly to a 2-track recorder, using just analog Synthesizers and a couple of old effects units. Raw and no-frills. Influenced by the great French and German pioneers of the 70s, this is a soundtrack for dystopian minds in dystopian times!

Coming soon on orange vinyl to Bandcamp exclusively. Black vinyl will be available at selected online stores. Release date for the vinyl version is late-January 2022.

"Hyboid – Sequencing the Apocalypse" 12" [Astro Chicken 10] TEASER

One year on from their debut, Rainer Veil explore deep, brittle rave variants on their 2nd EP for Modern Love. The five tracks of 'New Brutalism' are a product of their Northern environment, making pointed reference to the kind of deep-rooted rave heritage documented in Mark Leckey's 'Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore' soundtrack through a prism of angular, vulnerable club music. Conceptually, It adopts a similar perspective on British nightlife to Burial or Lee Gamble, surveying the 'floor as if during an out-of-body experience or through closed eyes from a corner of the club at 5am. Opening track, 'UK Will Not Survive' captures that sensation beautifully with its tape-saturated layers of wistful vocal, woody 2-step and daubs of Reese bass, whilst 'Three Day Jag' isolates that curious blend of hedonism and introspection innate to early UK 'ardcore, albeit without the narco-sweats. Closing number 'Run Out' doffs a cap to grey building sites and strobe-lit clubs alike, channelling diffuse field recordings and half-heard breakbeats with a bleary-eyed, tired and emotional quality.

What began as a sound piece created to accompany an alien-themed art exhibit in Philadelphia quickly evolved into something far more expansive before making its debut at the show. “sounds from an otherworldly place” is a sonic odyssey: a story of interstellar exploration and transformation told in five acts across space and time.

On this radical departure from her usual style, Mazy showcases her versatility by pushing the boundaries of her own craft. Experiments in sound design, synthesis, and field recording coalesce into haunting atmospheres and emotionally rich ambient worlds.

What emerges is both cosmic and intimate: a meditation on fear and fascination with the unknown.

Veteran Italian hardware lover Bochum Welt returns with ‘April’, due on !K7 in transparent blue vinyl as their first ever Record Store Day release in April 2017. ‘April’ is a broad exploration of ambient and downtempo that collects and re-edits a selection of old works as well as offering up brand new music  - and sees the first release on vinyl of all tracks compiled here.

From crunchy beats overlaid with pixelated pads to blissfully organic and spring-like sound tracks via tender piano laced ambient numbers, the music on ‘April’ is never less than beautiful. It can be heavenly yet of this world, but also synthetic and computerised. Together, though, it makes for dynamic and standalone work that is utterly timeless. Expressive and personal throughout, this album is about sound research and melodic sensibility and is as technically awe inspiring as it is purely enjoyable.

‘April’ sees its release on clear blue vinyl on Record Store Day worldwide (22nd April 2017) through !K7, with a full digital release to follow on 5th May.

Challenge Me Foolish sees Mike Paradinas's µ-Ziq alias digging deep into his archive and giving new life to these soon to be cherished recordings circa 1998-99. Recorded around the time of his Autumnal Acid classic Royal Astronomy, released via the now-defunct Virgin subsidiary Hut records (hard to imagine these days but Richard Branson once ran a very fwd thinking record label!) and also a tour with Björk. It takes on some of the times most outwardly approaching electronic music, whilst also showing glimpses of a future-proofed prediction for the following decade's forays into 2 step, dubstep, grime and footwork.
