Shall Not Fade welcomes Melbourne based DJ and producer Loure to the family for Memories In Strobes EP, four tracks of elated and explorative house. The Australian has cultivated an enigmatic presence with his jazzy, deep-house style, although the listener will hear hints of influence from electro to breakbeat on the new EP.

The opening track, ‘Grip’, shows off the best of Loure’s skills. Glorious sweeping pads and faded breaks make for a blissed out vibe in this intricately produced hands-in-the-air favourite. It melts into ‘Two Dimes Deep’, which continues the spaced-out deep house energy but with more bite, teasing bits of electro in its firm bassline. ‘Inner-Side’ is pushed forward by driving house rhythms, covered by French-style filtered vocals to create a euphoric club track. Closing it out is ‘Breath of Light’, constructed from a shuffling and constantly moving beat and euphoric pads which swoop down from above, with a growling acidic edge battling against them for centre stage.

Long an unsung hero of the underground, Langenberg (a.k.a Max Heesen) has a string of quality releases to his name, both on his own solo as a part of his Ribn moniker with Manuel Tur. This outing on Dessous Recordings provides yet another string to his bow; 'Shadows' is a supremely soulful outing featuring the vocal talents of Blakkat. Liquid deep and balanced perfectly between euphoric and melancholic, 'Shadow' sees Mark Bell (Blakkat) deliver an emotional invocation over a beautifully crafted track, with echoes of the master Larry Heard clearly present.

Also included in the release are three extraordinary remixes - UK legend Atjazz providing a sumptuously realized fusion of melody and driving, dancefloor urgency - both as a vocal and instrumental version.

Loz Goddard is a Manchester based musician and DJ who has been producing records for the likes of Outplay, Razor-N-Tape, Quintessentials, Secret Reels and Large. When he isn't working on his own beats, Mr. Goddard runs one of the most underrated radio shows on the internet known as Downtown Groove Sessions, where he invites artists from near and far to share some of the most promising and upcoming deep house tracks on the horizon. Personally, his shows have played an integral role in exposing me to some of the best songs the underground has to offer and I could not be more appreciative.

We were lucky enough to interview Loz about a year and a half ago, in which he compiled a mix for us and taught us how to grow fine chilies. Since that time, Loz has taken a bit of a break from producing but appears to be getting back into the groove with his upcoming release Find Me on the prestigious imprint Church. Featuring a collection of three originals and a remix from the lads of Session Victim, we are definitely glad that he has finally got the juices flowing again. This occurrence may or may not be chili related.

For his title track, which we are premiering for you guys today, Loz puts together his own unique brand of melodic, deep house in which he pairs an eclectic mix of jazz instrumentation with rolling basslines and steadfast percussion - the likes of which resembles the work of contemporaries such as Laurence Guy. Arguably the most memorable and captivating feature of the song has to be the sampled vocal that is laid out throughout its entirety. Smokey and evocative, this mysterious voice will leave you feeling hot and bothered with its faint whispers imploring you to come find it. I don't know where this person is, but this song makes me want to start looking immediately.

Fresh from the Outplay crew comes 24 Carrot; a series of edits, weirder bits and ruff house cuts that don’t necessarily  fit the brief for a regular Outplay EP. Fouk and Junktion are first out of the blocks with three no nonsense party jams; each track given it’s own dance floor theme. We spotlight ‘“That’s Pretty Vague”, with it’s swinging, organic drums and infectious rolling bassline it’s reminiscent of that 90’s golden period of New York tough garage, not unlike Mood II Swing in their prime. Make sure it’s in the bag.

We were founded both as a response to the murders of BLACK trans women and women of color and how that is connected to our exclusion from social justice issues, namely racial, gender, and reproductive justice, as well as gun violence.
